Cora Lee Smith, born on June 5, 1927, in Edgefield, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on November 4, 2025, in Woodruff, South Carolina. She was the daughter of the late Robert Dewey Cloninger and Mary Eva McClendon Cloninger.

Cora began her professional journey in 1944 as a program clerk with the Agriculture Stabilization & Conservation Program for the Federal Government. She dedicated nearly four decades to this role before retiring in 1982, after which she devoted her time to help care for her grandchildren. Cora was a proud graduate of Spartanburg High School, finishing her education in the same year she embarked on her career.

Known for her remarkable talents, Cora made the best birthday cakes ever, creating sweet memories for her family. She was also a skilled seamstress and enjoyed crocheting, making dolls and crafting their clothes. A gardener at heart, she found joy in growing fruits and vegetables, which she would generously share with her loved ones. Cora's warm and welcoming personality made her the caretaker of everyone around her. She was truly devoted to her family and was celebrated for her patience and kindness.

Cora was a dedicated member of Southside Baptist Church for over 44 years, where she found community and fellowship among her fellow congregants.

Cora was first wed Anderson "Red" Leroy Walker, with whom she shared 51 loving years. After his passing, she married the late Jeremiah "Jake" L. Smith. Cora was also preceded in death by her son, David L. Walker, and her brother, Robert E. Cloninger, and by his wife, Lois Cloninger.

Cora leaves behind her son, Phillip E. Walker, and his wife, Patricia "Patty" Hall Walker. Her cherished grandchildren include Kathryn "Katie" Rose Walker, Karen Denise Walker, and Nathaniel "Nathan" Phillip Walker and his wife Casey Danielle Walker, along with her great-grandchild, Olivia "Ollie" Anderson Walker. Also remembering her fondly is her nephew, Billy E. Cloninger, and his wife, Debra.

Family will receive friends from 12:00 PM to 12:45 PM, Monday, November 10, 2025, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC, 29307, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 PM, in Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel.
