Coreen Therese Cassidy, 62, of Mount Prospect, Ill., left this world peacefully on October 14, 2025. Cory is the daughter of the late Ron and Arlene Cassidy; sibling to Kathleen (John) Langelund, Laureen Cassidy, Ronald Cassidy, Jr.; aunt of Kailey Cassidy; a loving cousin; and cherished friend to an extensive community.
Cory earned her bachelor’s degree from Northern Illinois University and worked as a project manager in the early days of the cellular industry, earning one of the first employee of the month awards presented by the late James Lovell (Apollo 8, 13, and Gemini program). She later worked in banking project management before retiring.
Cory loved music and accumulated an extensive and upbeat playlist. She perfected the art of making chocolate chip cookies, earning the moniker of CCCs by CC. She loved boating on Lake Geneva and visits by friends and family over many summers.
Cory was deeply loved, especially for her steadfast kindness. She was an exceptional listener, had a fun sense of adventure, loved a good party, and remembered birthdays, anniversaries, and special occasions for all those she loved.
A visitation will be held on Friday, October 24 from 3-8 p.m. at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 941 S. Old Rand Road, Lake Zurich, Illinois. A second visitation will be held on Saturday, October 25 from from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the funeral mass at 10:30 a.m. at St. Anne Catholic Church, 120 Ela Street, Barrington, Illinois. Interment will be privately held at a later time.
Cory was the recipient of expert and compassionate care from a wide-ranging medical team, and remembered each of her caregivers by name. She wanted to honor the nurses who cared for her, so in lieu of flowers, Cory requested donations be made to support the Nursing Wellness Award Program at Rush. Memorial donations in Cory’s honor can be made to Rush University Medical Center, Rush Office of Philanthropy, 28057 Network Place, Chicago, IL 60673-1280.
