Mr. Corey R. Peterson

Mr. Corey Rashaad Peterson was born on November 13, 1979, in Norfolk, Virginia to James (Pete) Peterson, Sr. and the late Dr. Francine Kee Peterson. He peacefully transitioned to his heavenly home on Thursday, September 26, 2024.
Corey received his early education in the Virginia Beach Public School System. He graduated from Tallwood High School and continued his education at Norfolk State University graduating with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Communications. After school, Corey put his degree to use working in the field of Marketing with an emphasis in Sport Management, Marketing, and venues.
Corey never met a stranger, no matter whoever they were. He was always ready to greet you with a smile and start a conversation regardless of the topic. Corey loved, playing sports (especially football, basketball, and baseball), talking about sports, listening to popular music, and studying current affairs. He started reading the sports pages of the newspapers with his dad at age four and, as a result, often demonstrated more knowledge and statistical proficiency on those topics than the pundits of our day. He was a true sports enthusiast, loving virtually all collegiate and professional sports, especially football and basketball, ultimately leading him to his professional career. He loved his Philadelphia Eagles and his Los Angeles Lakers traveling the country extensively to attend sporting events. He was also an avid sneaker collector and had a great eye for modern fashion.
Corey was predeceased by his mother, Dr. Francine Kee Peterson, his maternal grandparents Thurlow F. Kee and Ruth B. Kee and his paternal grandparents Eddie Peterson and Lorese Peterson.
He leaves to cherish his memories his father, James Peterson Sr. and stepmother, Dianne Peterson of Hampton, VA; his brother, James Peterson II (Denise) of James City County, VA; niece and Goddaughter, Francine Peterson, Godson Kai Holmes, Stepbrother, Jared Foster of Atlanta, GA; Stepsister, Brittany Foster of Hampton, VA; and a host of relatives and friends that Corey treasured.
It is the desire of the Peterson family that you keep them in your thoughts and prayers.
