Corey Vaughn, affectionately known as “Big Coke,” passed away on January 18, 2026, at the age of 54.
He was a loving husband, devoted father, cherished grandfather, affectionate son, loving brother, and a dear friend to many.
A lifelong sports fan, he especially loved Maroon Tide Football and fondly remembered their 1986 Championship Title. Corey worked at Alpek Polyester, where he was respected for his dedication and professionalism.
He is survived by his wife, Alice Vaughn; children, CorLesia Crysel Smith-Shaw (Phillip), Corey Fantroy Smith, and Arrione CorShaun Vaughn; grandchildren, Elias Hunter and Leia Shaw; his father, Michael Lather; and siblings, Curtis Vaughn (Dori), Calvin Vaughn, Ronald Vaughn, Michael Lather Jr., Jason Lather, Anthony Lather (Korie), and Daiwana Tyner. He was preceded in death by his mother, Sylvia Vaughn.
A wake will be held on Thursday, January 29, 2026, at Brown Funeral Home, 1011 Rosa St., Picayune, Mississippi (Family visitation 4–5 p.m., General public 5–7 p.m.). Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at St. Matthew Missionary Baptist Church, Picayune, Mississippi, with viewing at 10:00 a.m. and service at 11:00 a.m., followed by interment at New Palestine Cemetery. The repast will immediately follow at The Salem House, 26008 MS-43, Picayune, Mississippi.
