**** OBITUARY SUBMITTED BY THE FAMILY ****
Corliss Ann McCoy, age 78, of Milton, Kentucky, passed away on Monday, November 24, 2025 at River Terrace Health Campus in Madison, Indiana. Born February 8, 1947 in LaGrange, Kentucky, she was the daughter of Charles Hayden and Bernice Colbert Pettit.
Corliss was a 1965 graduate of Trimble County High School. She attended Sullivan Business School upon her graduation and worked in local secretarial positions after completing her studies. She was united in marriage to her adoring husband, Charles, on December 21, 1966.
Her primary life focus transitioned to childrearing and homemaking after the birth of her children. She was a skilled seamstress, making many costumes for various church and school events as well as clothing for her family. She also enjoyed decorating
and was a Home Interiors consultant for many years throughout the 1970s and 1980s.
Mrs. McCoy was the school secretary at Kimper Elementary School in the late 1980s. She was a full time secretary at First Baptist Church (Pikeville, Kentucky) throughout the 1990s. Prior to her retirement, she served as secretary and music director at Milton Baptist Church for eighteen years.
Corliss had a vibrant soprano voice that was heard in a number of churches and community choirs throughout her life--often in harmony with her sister (Nancy) or her daughters. In addition to providing solo vocal music for numerous weddings and funerals, she often performed with impromptu ensembles as well. Listening to her children and grandchildren sing or play instruments always put a smile on her face.
Her surviving family includes her husband of nearly 59 years, Charles Allen McCoy; three daughters: Kerrie Stewart (Jamie) of Milton, Lora McCoy of Fort Mill, South Carolina, and Sabina McCoy of Madison, Indiana; one brother Gordon Pettit (Cheryl) of
Milton; two brothers-in-law: Scott Burrows of Pendleton, and Kenny McCoy (Patty) Milton; five grandchildren: Megan Stewart Webb (Brandon), Adam Stewart (Jessica), Shayla McCoy, Brayden Crumley (Nicole Williamson), and Anneliese Crumley (Nicholas Biallas); and four great grandchildren: Grayson, Emma-Kate, Kinsley and Addyson. She is also survived by several much-loved cousins, nieces, and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, parents, one sister, Nancy Burrows, and one nephew, William Burrows.
Pastor Keith Abrams will conduct the funeral services.
The family requests memorial contributions be made to Milton Baptist Church Children's and Youth Ministries.
