He has an Irish face for sure. “Cormac” in old Norse and Gaelic means “Raven.” Raven mythology and archetype suited his taking the name of Cormac. It was right and he knew it.
I am McCormick, “Son of the Raven.” The four greatest influences on my own writing are the King James Bible, Shakespeare, George Orwell, and Cormac McCarthy. I relate to Cormac McCarthy’s words as words coming from within. Not as words from the written page
I am fourth generation from a ranch in Durango, Colorado. A denizen of the Great Southwest. No one knew the truths of this land, and their larger implications, than Cormac McCarthy.
I had hoped to meet him in life. But now I will have to defer that meeting to some time in death farther down the road. But it is just as good. Until then. The Son of the Raven.
