Cornelia Madelyn (Monroe) Jackson, aged 105 years old, went home to Glory on Wednesday, December 31, 2025. Mrs. Jackson was born in Henryetta, Oklahoma to, Samuel and Florence Brown, on April 19, 1920.

Mrs. Jackson passed away after her parents, Samuel and Florence (Roper) Brown; her stepmother, Viola Brown; and her husbands, James Otis Price and Rev Allen L. Monroe, and Rev. Robert Jackson. had all predeceased her.

Fourteen siblings predeceased her: Elnora, Marie, Daisy, Adele, Sam, Leon, Blanche, Levi, Violet, Dorothy, Freddie, Hazel, Bert, and Betty. Also, seven children, Loretta, Sandra, Marchita, Cynthia, Andre, Alfredo, and Theophilus. Lastly, two grandchildren predeceased her-Melvin and Gino (Alvin)-three great-grandchildren-Gordy, Angelica, and Aryan-and one great-great grandchild, Saviour.

After a brief marriage to Otis, she relocated from Oklahoma to Kansas City, MO In 1945. She and Rev. Allen Monroe married and established a home where they loved and reared their family of ten children. They were the founders of The Progressive Church of God in Christ of which Rev. Monroe served faithfully as the Senior Pastor and she as First Lady until his demise. In the later years, she was instrumental in establishing a food pantry in Chillicothe with her then husband, Rev. Robert Jackson, where she was deeply influential through faith and community service.

In addition to being a loving wife and Mother, Cornelia had a kind and generous spirit and continuously volunteered her time and talents in service to many community endeavors, including service to agencies that helped the food insecure, single parents, and the mentally challenged to name a few.

Cornelia was also a day worker and one of those volunteer programs was with the Jewish Women's League through which she helped form a Ministry for the Blind, which was the first of its kind. Cornelia operated a free or low-cost daycare center at the old St. Vincent's Rectory, located at 31st and Flora., where she also helped the young indigent mothers with clothing and social services to help them become self-sufficient.

Cornelia returned to college late in life, graduating from Penn Valley College and earning enough credits from other area universities to obtain teaching credentials with the Kansas City School district where she was resource teacher to students with special needs. She served that capacity until her retirement.

Her greatest priority was being a mother and serving God and the church. She loved gardening, playing the piano and singing.

She leaves to cherish her memory, three children, Mrs. Patricia (Oscar), Lindley-Dominguez, Rev. Kenneth (Gerturde) Price, and Allen K. Monroe. She also leaves behind two "special daughters", Traci Mooney, and Tyrona aka "Toni" (Fred) Murry her two grandchildren she raised as her own following the tragic death of their mother, Loretta.
