Cornelia Parker Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Rowan Funeral Services, Inc. on Feb. 9, 2026.
Mrs. Cornelia Juanita Shipp Parker, affectionately known as Connie, was born on April 16, 1942, in Salisbury, North Carolina, to the late Clara Sellers Shipp and Wanzlow Hardin Shipp. She entered eternal rest on Friday, January 23, 2026, at Liberty Commons Nursing & Rehabilitation.

Connie was a graduate of J.C. Price High School and attended Barber-Scotia College. She built a life filled with warmth, laughter, and strength, known for her sharp mind, strong work ethic, fun-loving spirit, and her gift for bringing people together, especially around a good meal. A wonderful cook, her kitchen was often a place of comfort and fellowship.

She worked as a laboratory technician and later as an accountant for several businesses in the Washington, D.C. area. Faith and service were central to her life, and she was a devoted member of Crown In Glory Lutheran Church, where she actively served on several church committees and clubs.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Parker, her parents, and her brothers, Wanzlow H. Shipp, Jr., and Wilson Sellers.

She leaves to cherish her memory her sister, Barbara A. Goodlett (Walter) of Raleigh, North Carolina; her brother, Dwight S. Shipp (Donna) of Accokeek, Maryland; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will forever remember her warmth, wisdom, and love. Connie also shared many years of companionship with her longtime partner, Everett Myers of Accokeek, Maryland.

Those who knew Connie will remember her as thoughtful, warm-hearted, and deeply caring-a woman whose easy smile and generous spirit made people feel at home. The family is grateful for the many expressions of love and support and finds comfort in knowing that her life was well-lived and deeply cherished.

A memorial service celebrating Connie's life will be held Saturday, February 21, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. at Crown In Glory Lutheran Church, 517 East Bank Street, Salisbury, NC 28145.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Crown In Glory Lutheran Church. To make donation arrangements, please contact Pastor Donald Anthony at [email protected] or 704-701-7167.
