Corporal Reyes Obituary

Published by Legacy on Dec. 16, 2024.
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Corporal Francisco Reyes, Jr., who left us peacefully on December 14, 2024, at the age of 56. He was born on October 9, 1968, in El Paso, TX. He was a graduate of El Paso Ysleta High School and eventually earned a Bachelor's Degree from Lubbock Christian University.
Francisco, or "Pancho" as his family knew him, was a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Brenda Reyes, his cherished daughter, Brianne Reyes and son-in-law, Tommy Rios, and his precious granddaughter, Mikayla Reyes-Rios. He is also survived by his sister, Monica Reyes-Hernandez, and niece, Marissa Reyes-Hernandez; aunt Toni McGovern; uncles, Frank Reyes, Joe Reyes (Irma), JR Reyes (Teri), and Carlos Reyes (Dusty); cousins, Christi, Mickey, Jessica, Erica, Joe Mike, and Lexie; and all of Brenda's family as well.
He was preceded in death by his father, Francisco Reyes, Sr.; his mother, Alicia Reyes; and uncles, Mike Reyes and Dr. Tom McGovern.
A true patriot, Francisco served in the U.S. Army from 1987 to 2001, where he met the love of his life, Brenda, while stationed in Germany. They tied the knot on December 8, 1995, in Farmington, NM, beginning a beautiful family journey together. After his military service, he transitioned to a career in law enforcement. He held several roles within the Lubbock County Sheriff's Office, most recently as a Corporal for the Civil Division. He was known for his dedication to community service and public safety.
Francisco was a diehard University of Texas fan, often sharing his love for the Longhorns with family and friends – whether they wanted to hear it or not. His spirited personality, quick sense of humor, and warm heart touched everyone he met, and the void he leaves behind will be felt deeply. He will be profoundly missed.
Family and friends are invited to honor Francisco's life and legacy. A Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 19, 2024, from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers, where loved ones can gather to share stories and celebrate his remarkable life. A Celebration of Life will take place on Friday, December 20, 2024, at 10:00 am also at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers. We truly encourage everyone who knew him to come together to celebrate the wonderful man Francisco was and the laughter he brought into our lives.

My prayers go out to the family. Francisco and I worked together at the Sheriff's Office. He was always a joy to be around always smiling and happy. He brought so much enthusiasm to everyone that he was around. Heaven has gained another angel.
