Corrine Ganues Obituary

Published by Legacy on Oct. 1, 2025.
Corrine "Camie" Ganues, 98, of New Rochelle, NY, passed away peacefully at home on September 28, 2025.

Born on May 19, 1927, in Charles City, Virginia, Corrine was the beloved daughter of Thomas and Nannie Brown Bedford. Affectionately known as "Camie," she brought warmth, strength, and a vibrant spirit to every chapter of her life.

In 1947, Corrine married the love of her life, Andrew Ganues, and together they raised two children, Robert (Bobby) Ganues and Rita (Candi) Ganues, with unwavering love and devotion.

Corrine had a lifelong passion for travel, gardening, and connecting with others. Alongside Andrew, she co-owned and operated A&C Charter, a successful charter bus company that served the Westchester County community for over 30 years during a time when minority-owned businesses were rare. Their company was a trusted partner for church and civic groups, schools, and organizations throughout the region.

She also worked as a travel agent, helping others create lasting memories through thoughtfully planned trips. Her commitment to service extended beyond business as Corrine was a proud and active member of the New Rochelle Garden Club and volunteered with the American Red Cross for over 16 years. Through her work with the Red Cross, she was recognized for her dedication, compassion, and impact during times of crisis, both locally and beyond.

A lifelong learner, Corrine returned to school as an adult and earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from the College of New Rochelle in 1978.

Corrine had an extraordinary gift for conversation and could light up a room with her hearty laugh, great stories, and genuine interest in others. Her warm presence and zest for life left a lasting impression on everyone she met.

She is survived by her son, Robert and daughter-in-law, Francis Ganues, of Naples, Florida; her daughter, Rita Ganues, of New Rochelle, NY; and several cherished nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Andrew Ganues; her parents, Thomas and Nannie Brown Bedford; her siblings, Ruffin, Fred, Roger and Thomas Bedford, Essie Metz, and Lilian Wallace; and, her dear niece, Doris Dickerson, who was like a sister to her.

Corrine's legacy of kindness, resilience, and love will continue to live on in all who knew her. She will be deeply missed.
