Coy C. Leigh

Coy Chester Leigh, 72 of Somerset, Kentucky, passed from this life on Sunday, March 29, 2026, at the Jean Waddle Hospice Care Center, after an extended illness.

He was born on June 5, 1953, in Science Hill, Kentucky, son of the late Chester Leigh and Stella Mae Smith Leigh. Coy was a retired employee of Oakwood Training Center in Somerset, where he was a dedicated Direct Staff Support Person. Coy took pride in working on cars and lawn mowers in his leisure time. He was an outdoorsman and enjoyed being out in nature. He was of the Methodist Faith and will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.

In addition to his parents, Coy is preceded in death by his brothers, Rev. Harold Leigh, Clifford Leigh, Freddie Leigh, Roy Leigh and an infant brother, Milford Leigh as well as a sister, Susie Jones. He is also preceded in death by his father-in-law, Frank C. Gibson and mother-in-law Alma Sullivan Gibson, and brother and sister-in-law, Clayton and Judy Gibson.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife of 40 years, Wilda Gibson Leigh of Somerset, a daughter, Kellie (Destiny) Leigh of Somerset, a grandson, Bentlee Richards and a granddaughter due in 2 months; Riverlynn Leigh. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation and gathering of family and friends will be from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm in the Chapel of Somerset Undertaking Co. & Crematory. A Celebration of Life, Graveside Service and Interment will be held at the Mt. Zion Cemetery in Science Hill, immediately following the Visitation. Active Pallbearers will be Martin Osorio, Cody Osorio, Anthony Bryant, Clayton A. Gibson, Frank C. Gibson, Jr., and Dakota Flynn.
