Craig Capretta Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 20, 2025.
Craig Capretta, age 68, of Minnetonka MN, passed away peacefully surrounded by his wife and children on February 20th.

Craig was born on December 22nd, 1956 to Louis & Justine Capretta, in Columbus Ohio. After Craig graduated from Upper Arlington High School in 1973, he went on to study at The Ohio State University.

Craig started his financial services career in 1983 with E.F. Hutton in Columbus Ohio. Before joining Delaware Investments in January of 2003, he was the RVP with Pioneer Investments.

In 2023 Craig retired from Delaware Investments, a member of the Macquarie Group where he was the Central Division Sales Manager of the Australian based investment banking firm.

Craig spent 40+ years at the top of his industry. He achieved numerous awards in his career.

Craig was known for his kindness and loyalty. He loved to spread his knowledge of useless facts and information, and always had the best advice and stories to share. Craig's humor and positivity were contagious and had doctors, family, and friends laughing until the end.

Craig was a lifelong Ohio State Buckeye fan. In his spare time he loved traveling the world and spending time in his favorite place Maui. He embraced "Ohana" and the many great people that he met along the way. His circle of friends and colleagues was extensive. He loved and was well-loved by many.

Craig was the best dad. He loved spending time with his daughters and son and especially his granddaughters. He was the best "Abuelo" as they called him. He loved kicking back and watching basketball with Francisco, supporting Toni in her faith, and guiding Kelley to success in her business. He was a proud father. In his words; When I'm gone someday and someone says "I'm sorry to hear about your father". Tell them "Don't be sorry, he lived an exceptional life". His favorite quote was "Every man dies, but not every man really lives".

Craig is survived by his loving wife Arlinda Capretta, father Louis Capretta, brother Barry Capretta (Lisette), daughters Kelley Smith (Troy), Toni Capretta (Dave), & Francisco Maltes. His Aunt Vicki Yezbek (Thomas), granddaughters Georgia and Justine Smith, and many loyal friends, colleagues and extended family. He was predeceased in death by his mother Justine Capretta.

"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith" 2 Timothy 4:7

Craig was a great co-worker but an even better friend! I´ll always remember our days back at Delaware/LFD and the great times we had together. God speed my friend.
