John and I send you our sympathy, Kelly and family. We are so, so sorry. Craig was the nicest person ever. My husband and Craig had a mutual music friend who made the connections for us when we moved to southeast Kansas back in 1998. That connection saw us playing in Craig's summer bands for many years. John played tuba; and I played clarinet. That connection also inspired me to study clarinet at Pitt and earn my BSE in instrumental music, 2006 under the leadership of Dr. Fuchs. We will never forget Craig's kindness.
After his illness he said he was in God's hands.......well, we pray God has him directing the biggest, baddest band in the heavenly realms with a beautiful baton! LORD, please hold Craig's family in your hands also and even hug them close to you in peace and light. Thank you for the years we had with our friend. In Jesus name, Amen.
Sincerely, Rev. John and Darla Stubenrouch

First met the Man as a high school senior. There are just so many treasured memories of experiences as one of Dr. Fuchs´s students. From the nicknames, to serving in his ensembles at that absolute diamond of a music department he led, to that always winning smile of his, to his brilliance as an educator (and certainly a pedagogy student´s master experimental pupil) are all part of memories I won´t soon forget, even over 15 years ago. Countless memories, for sure. Thank you, Dr. Fuchs, for everything!

Craig was a great boss and mentor! He had a deep passion for his students. He strived for them to become not only as a great musicians, but to be respectable human beings that can give back to their communities.

He loved his family so dearly, and I am truly sorry he gone so soon.

I can still hear him call me "Jilly" as he did ever single day for 8+ years.

Rest in peace, Craig Fuchs. You are missed.

Dr. Fuchs expected excellence from his students and usually got excellence in return; you never wanted to let him down. He pushed us to grow and expand in so many ways that have resonated in my life far outside of music. Some of my favorite music-making memories took place under his baton. My thoughts and best wishes for peace and healing go out to all who knew him.

Dr. Craig Fuchs was a teacher, a tour guide, a mentor, and more to me during my time at Pittsburg State University. Whether through his thoughtful insights about music and leadership or his dedication to the PSU Honors College, Dr. Fuchs provided so much to myself and the entire Pittsburg community. He will be dearly, dearly missed.

We will miss Craig at KUMC research. He was such a wonderful person to be around and so selfless. Every time he saw us he called us "kid" . Somehow at 32 years old that still just makes ya feel good. He contributed to the ALS community and we are forever grateful. We will continue this fight. You are already dearly missed.
