Craig S. Halle, Sr., 74, of Glenview, Illinois passed away on Saturday, May 10, 2025 at Glenbrook Hospital with his wife, Kathy Halle, by his side. He was born on September 23, 1950 in Fon du Lac, Wisconsin, the son of Leland "Lee" and Ardis (Jung) Halle. Craig proudly served his country during the Vietnam War, where he was a petty officer attached to a fighter wing aboard the aircraft carrier USS Midway. He married Kathleen Weinert on July 14, 1973 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Glenview, IL.
Craig enjoyed gardening and botany, fishing, the stock market and investing, photography and home videography, cooking, working with his hands, music, traveling, telling "dad" jokes, and spending quality time with his family and friends. A proud graduate of Northern Illinois University, his career included work in banking, sales, computers and networking, and as a technical support and customer relations specialist for CheckFree for many years. He was a friendly and outgoing person who loved to strike up conversations and share a laugh with folks he'd meet throughout the day. For Craig, strangers didn't stay strangers too long, and he loved sharing his hobbies and passions with others.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Kathy; his children Craig Steven "Steve" (Monica) Halle Jr. and Heather (Brian) Burnes; two grandchildren, Connor and Eleanor Burnes; his siblings, Kim Lynch, Ron (Nora) Halle, and Joy (Randy) Quill; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Craig was preceded in death by his parents; father- and mother-in-law Bernard "Barney" and Marie Weinert; his brother, Brent Halle; and his beloved Italian Greyhounds Squeak the Dog Halle and Tinkerbell "Belle" Halle.
A memorial service will be held at N. H. Scott & Hanekamp Funeral Home (1240 Waukegan Rd, Glenview, IL 60025) at 5 p.m. on Monday, May 19, 2025. A visitation precedes the service from 3 to 5 p.m. A private interment will take place this summer at All Saints Cemetery in Des Plaines, IL.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Craig's memory may be made to Sister Paulanne's Needy Family Fund at Our Lady of Perpetual Help or to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research.
