Victor Craig Matheson (Sarge) passed away on June 6, 2023 in St. George, Utah. He was born on December 30, 1946 to Victor and Reva Matheson. He was born and raised in Cedar City, UT and didn't travel far from home. He married Paulette Slack on June 30, 1967, who later passed away on June 16, 1994. He then married Vicki Major Parker (that girl from over on 89) on August 19, 2004.
He graduated from Cedar High School (a true Redman). He joined the National Guard in 1965 and served his country for 38 years, where he ventured to many different places, but Cedar City was home. He was proud to be an American. He loved to be outdoors, especially sitting on a rock watching his fishing pole. He could bullshit with the best of them. He loved his family and his door was always open. Dad was a simple man and loved a cold beer and a good fry of mutton. He cooked a mean turkey and his homemade jam was second to none. Dad had a nickname for just about everyone, especially his grandkids, like Spider, Walley, The Natural, Sam, Bert and Peanut.
Dad loved his Indianapolis Colts and was a diehard sports fan. He loved to talk to his kids and grandkids. He always had a story or a joke to tell you. He loved working in his yard and garden and took a lot of pride in them.
He loved watching Gunsmoke and old John Wayne movies. He loved listening to his old country music, like Johnny Cash, Marty Robbins, and Lorne Green.
Dad had the best sense of humor and could always make you laugh with his sarcasm.
We love you and we will miss you. 'Keep Smilin'.
Victor is survived by his wife Vicki, his children Lynette (Sam) Matheson of Enoch, Ut and Justin (Tara) Matheson of West Jordan, UT, 15 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren; his siblings Kim (Margo) Matheson, Vance Matheson, Gayle (Sid) Webster, DeAnne (Mike) Sherratt, Vicki Webster all of Cedar City, UT, and Denise (Ed) Stanfill of Maricopa, AZ. He is proceeded in death by his wife Paulette Slack Matheson, his parents Victor and Reva, granddaughter Jessica Simkins and grandson Trace Parker.
