Creed Mathis, Jr., a beloved father, brother, and friend, passed away on September 20, 2025, at his home at 113 Reese Avenue, Tupelo, Mississippi. He was born on January 26, 1953, in Oxford, Mississippi, where he would later forge a life defined by love, resilience, and a warm spirit that touched the hearts of many.
Creed will be deeply missed by his family, including his four daughters, Jaqueline Shumpert, Crystal Morris, Bernadette Mathis McCurry, and Chandra Spight, and his two sons, Craig Mathis and Corey Mathis. His legacy will also be cherished by his brother, Joe Ralph Mathis, and his sister, Hattie Mathis, who carry with them fond memories of their time together. He is remembered for his unwavering support and dedication to his family.
Creed is preceded in death by Creed Mathis, Sr ( father), Mary Morgan Mathis (mother), Peggy Mathis ( wife), sister Virginia Jew, and Kevon Page (grandson). Their memories linger in the hearts of those who knew him, as he often spoke of the values they instilled in him and the love that shaped his character.
The community is invited to pay their respects during the visitation on September 26, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM, both to be held at Truth Trinity Ministry, located at 1644 South Eason Blvd, Tupelo, MS 38801.
Creed Mathis, Jr. leaves behind a legacy rich with love, fortitude, and the spirit of togetherness. He will be remembered for his kindness and the many lives he influenced throughout his journey.
