Cristobal Sanchez, Jr., father, son, brother, nephew, uncle and friend, passed on to the other side camp on January 3, 2025. Cris, affectionately known as "Boy" was born on December 20, 1991 in Center, Texas to Cristobal Sanchez and Saraphine DeCrane Sanchez. He was a member of the Ties-in-the-Bundle Clan and a Child of the Greasy Mouth Clan. He was given the name of Rides Horses Well by his auntie/mom Dorothy Spotted Bear. Cris grew up in Center, Texas until the family moved to Pryor, Montana where he attended and graduated grade school from St. Charles Mission. When he moved to Pryor, Mark and Roseanna Denny claimed him as their son and proudly supported him throughout his life. He attended and graduated from Plenty Coups High School.
Cris was a gifted and natural athlete. Before moving to Pryor Cris played baseball and soccer, then when he moved to Pryor he played basketball and rode a horse for the first time. His uncle Tommy Boy taught him how to ride a horse bareback and from then on it became a natural sight to see Cris on the back of a horse. While in high school Cris was on the Cross Country team and was an All-State runner his Junior year. He was an extremely accomplished horseman and was an Indian Relay rider, riding for the following teams; Black Eagle, Medicine Tail, Fights Alone, River Road, and Two Leggins Renegades. He also rode race horses for Jesse Plain Feather. Cris was a two time Champion in the Ultimate Warrior Challenge Race in 2010 and 2015. When Cris was 15 years old, his sister Violet and brother-in-law James entered him in a bull-riding competition. He rode his one and only bull at the rodeo at the Horse Palace which nearly gave his mother a heart attack. Cris loved to hunt and fish and was always willing to play softball with his uncle Tommy Boy and his parents Roseanna and Mark's teams. Skateboarding was another favorite of Cris'. He would often take his board to Billings and practice his moves.
Cris had such a friendly, and loving personality. He was never hesitant to tell you he loved you and would never hold back a hug. His friendships were important to him. So much so that his best friend, the late Richard Crow, Jr., who married his sister, Luisa, to become a part of his family. He was married to Hannah Hugs who gave him his three beautiful children.
Cris was preceded in death by his mother Saraphine; grandparents Richard Thomas DeCrane, Violet Josephine BirdinGround, Edwardo Sanchez, and Luisa Lopez Sanchez; uncles Thomas DeCrane, and Leonardo Sanchez; aunts Zelda DeCrane, Victoria Stewart, and Rafaela Sanchez; brother Joseph Broken Rope, Jr., brother-in-law Richard Crow, Jr., sister Dorinda Broken Rope, nephews Wes Spotted Bear and Alan DeCrane, and friends Ferlin Blacksmith, Falon Goes Ahead and Tom Crow.
He is survived by his children Hayden Riley, Saydee Sara Ann, and Crisannah Esperanza, father Cristobal, adopted parents Mark and Roseanna Denny; sisters Violet (James) Real Bird, Luisa Sanchez, Charlie Goes Ahead, and Charlie Rose Bell Rock; auntie/moms Dorothy Spotted Bear, Anna, and Connie DeCrane; grandmother Agnes Goes Ahead Pretty Weasel; cousin/sisters Veronica (William Big Day) Spotted Bear, Delia and Janel Spotted Bear, Georgia (Calvin) Buckingham, Velda (Darius) Deputee, Roberta Broken Rope, Malissa (Greg) Parker; cousin/brothers Max (Walla), and Luke Spotted Bear, McKinley (Velma), and Richard (Amy) Sees the Ground Sr., Richard (Karin), and James (Mandy) DeCrane, Thomas Broken Rope, Alex (Beldean) Plain Feather, Emmanuel, and Greg (Shaina) Archambault; as well as nephews Edward, Braxton, Trevor and Hunter, niece Penelope and numerous grandchildren.
