Cruz Moreno, Jr. was born on February 28, 1954 in Fort Worth, Texas to Cruz Moreno, Sr. and Enriqueta Dominquez. He was baptized into the Catholic faith. Cruz attended Eugene Field Elementary School, Washington School and Crookston Central High School. He also attended high school in St. Paul. At 17 years old Cruz joined the United States Navy where he served honorably in Vietnam on the USS Sterett. Cruz was awarded the National Defense service medal, Republic of Vietnam campaign medal, Vietnam service medal with one bronze star, and a combat action ribbon. He worked for Vigen Construction and Doug Amundson Trucking in East Grand Forks. Cruz was a member of Encounter Church in Crookston. Cruz loved traveling and cruising on his Harley Davidson. He loved fast cars and great restaurants.
Cruz is preceded in death by his parents, Cruz and Enriqueta Dominques Moreno; brother, Jesse Moreno; infant sister; grandparents, Catarino and Angela Dominquez; Pedro Moreno I and Rufina Santana Moreno; several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He is survived by his children, Amy (James) Harris of Spotsylvania, VA, Magen Moreno of Chester, VA, Jeremiah James Moreno or Robbinsdale, MN, Jacob James Luis Moreno of Champlin, MN, Travis Moreno of Grand Forks, ND, Mekayla Goodrich of Cloquet, MN; grandchildren, James D Harris IV of Spotsylvania, VA, Caitlynn Moreno of Prince George, VA, Brooklyn Moreno of Prince George, VA, Dylan Elliott of Prince George, VA, Tyler Elliott of Prince George, VA, Addalyn Nicole Moreno-Dawson, James Battle, III of Chester, VA, Major Woods and Maverick Woods of Chester, VA; siblings, Gerry (Jill) Moreno of Crookston, MN, John Moreno of Baja, CA, Linda (Mike) Swenson of Crookston, MN, Rick Moreno of Tijuana, Mexico, Tony Moreno of Crookston, MN, Ramon Moreno of Minneapolis, MN, Carmen (Frank) Caputo of Crookston, MN, Norma Moreno of Fisher, MN; Tammy Flake-Richards, mother of (Amy, Magen). He is also survived by aunts, uncles, cousins, and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation for Cruz will take place on Saturday August 30, 2025 at The Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Crookston beginning at 10:00 am. Memorial Services will begin at 11:00 am with interment at Calvary Cemetery in Crookston following the service.
