Crystal A. Jones (Helms)
April 18, 1948 – November 8, 2025
Crystal A. Jones (Helms), 77, of Akron, Ohio, passed peacefully into the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on November 8, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on April 18, 1948, Crystal was a lifelong resident of Akron and dedicated her life to serving others through her work as a compassionate geriatric nurse. Her caring and powerful heart touched countless lives, both within her profession and among her family and friends.
Crystal is survived by her beloved son Danny Ray Jones (Monalisa), devoted daughter Katrina E. Houk (Brian), her cherished grandchildren Gabrielle A. Peck (Derek), Mariah N. Steele (Nick), Kendra E. Schroeter (Ericsson), and Karsten P. Houk; and her precious great-grandchildren Grace and Daniel Peck. She is also survived by her loyal partner Jim Uhl (“Papa Jim”), who shared many years of companionship and adventure with her. Crystal was preceded in death by her parents Lyle and Wanda Helms, and her brothers Bobby and Junior Helms.
A woman of enthusiasm, liveliness, and spirit, Crystal often found joy in simple pleasures: bowling, dancing, music, and card games, but above all else, spending time with loved ones. She was the heart of every gathering, always ready with a laugh, a dance move, and a tender hug. Crystal's life was guided by her belief in God. She prayed often, loved as Christ did, and came into true communion with Him near the end of her life. She was received in heaven and is with us always and forevermore. Her legacy of tenacity, love, and dedication will echo through the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 12, 2025 from 10-11 am at Hummel Funeral Home (Fairlawn Chapel) 2800 West Market Street, Fairlawn, OH 44333. A funeral service will begin at 11 am with Pastor Jeff Bogue officiating. Burial in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
