Curtis Butler

Curtis Butler, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on December 7, 2025, at the age of 65. He was a resident of Brooklyn, Maryland, and had previously called Washington State his home where he fished all over the state.
Born on May 22, 1960, in Baltimore, Maryland, Curtis was the cherished son of the late Harold and Thelma Butler. He graduated from Northeast High School in 1978 and went on to earn his degree in Engineering in 1989 in Baltimore. Curtis dedicated his career to the craft of sheet metal work, proudly serving with Local #16 in Portland, Oregon, and with Local #100 in Baltimore. His talent in architectural sheet metal even led him to help restore the Statue of Liberty in 1990.
Curtis was a man of many passions. He had an interest in growing marijuana and was renowned for his skills in fishing, crabbing, and clamming-talents he passed on to his family with joy and enthusiasm. Curtis could catch any type of seafood and was an excellent gardener, always eager to share the bounty of his endeavors. He excelled at playing drums and even played in a band at one time. He also had a strong affinity for wrestling, a sport that played a significant role in his life.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 35 years, Helen Butler; his daughter, Renee Howe, and her husband, Robert; his son, Michael Bratcher; and his treasured grandchildren, Ariana and Alexander Howe. His legacy lives on in their hearts and in the countless memories they shared. Curtis was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Thelma Butler, his brothers Roger and Kenneth Butler and his grandson Nathan Howe.
Family and friends are invited to gather for a visitation on Saturday, December 13, 2025, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Stallings Funeral Home in Pasadena, Maryland, to celebrate Curtis's life and the enduring spirit he leaves behind.
Memorial contributions may be made in Curtis's name to a local veteran organization or a local wrestling team, causes that held special meaning to him. His generosity, love for life, and humor will be sorely missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
