Curtis Elswick, 70, of Ironton, went home to be with the Lord on March 30, 2009. He was born February 26, 1939 in Ironton, Ohio, a son of the late Samuel and Mary Noble Elswick. Mr. Elswick was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and best friend. Curt was a blessing to all who knew him. His courage and abiding faith was an inspiration to everyone. Mr. Elswick attended Ironton Schools and was a former meat cutter for Tipton's Bakery. He was also a former employee for Carolina Lumber Company and the (Edgemeade) Ohio Youth Commission. He was a member of the City Mission Church in Ironton for eleven years and lived all his life in the Ironton area. Curt was a musician and could play numerous musical instruments. He enjoyed playing the guitar and singing in church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: 3 brothers: Henry Elswick, Carl Elswick, and Paul Elswick 2 sisters: Edith Campbell and Ruth Ann Russell He is survived by: his loving wife of 49 years, Rosemary Wilson Elswick, whom he married August 31, 1959 They have three daughters and two sons-in-law, Diana and Dallas Summers, Lisha McCaffery, and Cheryl and Mike Cavin, all of Ironton. Three grandchildren whom he adored, Kayla McCaffery, Tyler Cavin, and Mary Beth Schwab. a sister-in-law, Ruth Elswick and several nieces and nephews A celebration of Curt's life will be 1:00 PM Friday (April 3, 2009) at the City Mission Church in Ironton with Rev. James Cremeans and Rev. Jeff Cremeans officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday from 6-8PM at Phillips Funeral Home, 1004 South Seventh Street, Ironton.The body will lie in state one hour before the funeral at the church. The Pallbearers will be Levi Dalton, Dallas Summers, Tyler Cavin, Tommy Lawson, Gary Fraley, Jim Lee Cremeans and Honorary Pallbearers will be Leon Dalton, Jeff Cremeans and Joey Brown. In Curt's memory, donations may be made to; The City Mission Church, 710 North Fifth Street, Ironton, OH 45638.
