Curtis H. Herold, 47 of Gulfport, passed away Friday, October 24th in New Orleans, LA. Survived by his wife Amanda N. Herold, and children Trysten G. White and Byron B. Bordelon. Parents William F. Herold and Joe Ann Coleman, Sister Jamie (Poncho) Perez. His two oath bound siblings Jeffery M. Coffer & Mermaid (A.A.). He is preceded in death by his biological mother Sandra Coleman, Grandparents William and Lottie Herold, Joe Curtis and Hazel Coleman, siblings Michele Blackwell and Wayne Herold.
Curtis was a magnanimous soul – resilient and charismatic. He was unforgettable to anyone who’s life he purposefully impacted. Just after dawn was his favorite time of day to greet those he loved – and those he didn’t – by letting them know what time of day it was and what task they should be performing. As a young man, Curtis walked among a golden brotherhood of lions, a circle bound by loyalty, courage, and pride, forging lessons that followed him throughout his life. As he strode forward in life, he was proud to become a husband and father. Doing so in steadfast manner, with a love that surpassed tribulations, and was present till his death.
His intellectual hunger carried him abroad, one place he favored was Norway, where he delved into history and spiritual knowledge. He then travelled to Belgium, where he explored the rich traditions of brewing beer, a craft he wholeheartedly invested in. Curtis was a craftsman through and through, whether it be metal trades or brewing or otherwise; there was nothing he could not excel at. He was a connoisseur of music. His articulation of musical rhythms and lyrics was one of the ways that he expressed his love and appreciation of life. He communicated with those he loved through lyrics and song and rhythm. Anyone that knew him could name a band or song or line that he spoke to them about and will forever be in their life. Some of the closest connections in his life were bound through music and circumstance.
Curtis was a phenomenal cook and took pride in the extravagant meals he prepared for his family & friends. Anyone that ever tasted his food will agree. This is a skill he learned from his grandmother Hazel Coleman, who he adored and missed very dearly. On that side of the family, he also was inspired very much by his grandfather Curtis Coleman, a moonshiner, and his free-spirited biological mother Sandra Coleman. Amongst his family, and friends, he will always be dearly missed. He was a one-of-a-kind soul: an inspiration, a renegade and what many may not know an artist. Even people that barely knew him will mourn his passing and that says so much about the man that he was. Hail Curtis Herold!
Celebration of Life will be held November 8th, at 2:00pm - till, at the music venue, Trax Bar & Grill in Long Beach, Mississippi.
