On October 31, 2025, our beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend, Curtis Scott Kelso, passed away after a courageous battle with colon cancer. He was diagnosed in May of 2024, and from that moment on, he faced every challenge with incredible strength, grace, faith and love.
Curtis was born August 22, 1966, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Allen Lee Kelso and Nadene Maurer Kelso.
In 1988, he married Candy Coronado in Idaho Falls. Curtis and Candy made their home in Ammon where Curtis worked as a hyster driver for a potato warehouse.
Curtis was truly one of a kind—a kind-hearted soul who found joy in the simple things and purpose in helping others. He was the kind of man who would drop everything to fix something that was broken, lend a helping hand, or share a laugh to lift someone's spirits. He always stopped everything to help any of his children when they needed him. A natural handyman and a lover of nature, Curtis found peace in the outdoors— especially when fishing or rock hunting with his beautiful wife, Candy, of 40 years. Together they built a life filled with love, laughter, and countless memories.
Curtis was also an amazing father to five children, Braxton, Dakota, Jett, Destiny, and Blade, who will forever cherish his warmth, humor, and unwavering love. He adored his family, he had so much love and faith in God and our Lord & Savior Jesus Christ.
Curtis loved eating yummy food, he loved watching movies, and taking his dog Bean on walks. He liked fixing cars. He loved watching UFC fights with his sons, rock hunting with his wife, and spending time with his grandchildren. They always made him so happy, he liked collecting coins and learning about them, he loved hearing updates on his children's lives and what they've been up to (he was so proud of all of his children) and he just found so much happiness in making memories with loved ones.
Throughout his battle, his wife, Candy, stood by his side as his full-time caregiver, showing unconditional love and devotion until his final day. We lost a very important part of our family and it will never be the same without him, but we will always remember him and the time we did get with him. He will always be with us in our hearts everyday in everything we do. We will all miss him so very much and we love him always and forever!
Curtis is survived by his wife, Candy Kelso of Ammon, ID; his children, Braxton Kelso, Dakota Kelso, Jett (Berkley) Kelso, Destiny Kelso, Blade Kelso all of Idaho Falls; brothers, Kym and Casey Kelso; sister, Buffy South; and eight grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 8, 2025, at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 S. Ammon Road. The family will visit with friends from 1-1:45 p.m. prior to services. Burial will be in the Ammon Cemetery.
