Curtis Paul Ramseth, age 83, passed away Friday, August 18, 2023 at Meadow View Assisted Living in Two Rivers, WI, with his loving family by his side.
He was born March 26, 1940 in Escanaba, MI, son of the late Paul and Olga (Larson) Ramseth and resided in Upper Michigan for 81 years of his life.
Curtis graduated from a class of 15 at Rock High School in 1958 and then continued to spend time helping his father run the Ramseth Furniture business on Iron Street in Negaunee. This is where he met the love of his life through his future brother-in-law, Paulie. The family business eventually moved to Marquette, MI. When the business closed he worked as a bulk driver for Ferrell Gas for 15 years and enjoyed the beautiful UP scenery and wildlife when delivering gas. He also worked for the Negaunee Public Schools as a custodian.
Curt married the love of his life, Geraldine Kutchie, on February 3, 1962 at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Negaunee, MI and their lasting love was evident throughout their 61 years of marriage. His faith was displayed through his involvement at St. Paul's by being a religious education teacher for 30 years and Eucharistic Minister. He has been a member of the Knights of Columbus since age 21 and enjoyed selling cudighis and hot dogs after the Pioneer Days Parade.
Many friendships were made through his involvement with the Miner Booster Club. He also enjoyed seeing the best high school football action when he volunteered as a member of the Negaunee Miner "Chain Gang". His favorite pastimes included watching everything and anything MI sports, from the Wolverines Football to the Spartans Basketball. He loved the Packers and at times he even tolerated the Cowboys. He was always witty and everyone who knew him loved his sense of humor and joke telling. He loved to get together with friends to play various card games, chess and Farkle. He also enjoyed listening to music whether it was a musical or the city band concerts in the park. He and Geri were fortunate enough to spend 10 winters in Panama City Beach, Florida to get away from the brutal UP snow.
He is survived by his loving wife,Geraldine; children Eric (Jill) Ramseth of Rockford, IL and Kirsten (Larry) Sleger of Two Rivers, WI. He was blessed to have four grandchildren: Ian Ramseth and Adrianna, Andrew and Vanessa Hines and two great grandchildren. He also had two brother-in-laws; Jim (Rose) Kutchie and Roman Gill; two sister-in-laws, Dorothy Remillard and Janet Ramseth and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is also survived by a special granddog-ter, Sierra.
Curt was preceded in death by: his two sisters Gayle Gill and Marie Dowse and her husband Byron Dowse, his brother Roger Ramseth, sister-in-laws and brother-in-laws; Patricia and Eugene Dougherty, John and Karen Kutchie and Paul Remillard.
Visitation will be held at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church, 3201 Mishicot Rd. in Two Rivers from 10:00 until 11:45 a.m. Saturday, August 26, 2023.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at the church on Saturday, August 26th, at 12 o'clock noon. Rev. Dave Pleier will officiate at the Mass of Christian Burial, assisted by Deacon John Vincent. Burial will take place at a later date in Negaunee, Michigan.
