Curtistene Baylor, 77, was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on January 5, 2026. She passed away peacefully while surrounded by loved ones. Curtistene Dean (Burnett) Baylor was born to parents, Curtis and Effie (Dean) Burnett on January 26, 1948, in Madisonville, Texas.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church (First Methodist Church) in Madisonville, Texas. Curtistene graduated from Madisonville High School as Valedictorian of her class in 1966. She attended Sam Houston State University and studied to become a teacher. She was a longtime educator with the Madisonville Consolidated Independent School District where she was loved and respected by students and colleagues alike.

In May 1969, Curtistene married Roger Baylor. Throughout their fifty-six year marriage, they were blessed with three children (Reese, Becky, and Lori) and three grandchildren (Justin, Jace, and Bryce). After retirement, she and Roger enjoyed their occasional trips to the casinos. Curtistene was known for her kind, gentle, and caregiving nature. She had a natural green thumb and loved taking care of her many flowers and plants.

Curtistene was preceded in death by both parents and her son, Reese Baylor.

Those left to cherish Curtistene’s memory are her husband, Roger Baylor; two daughters, Becky Siemens (Jonathon) and Lori Gibbs (Brent); sister, Bertie Sue Dutton (Jimmy); three grandchildren, Justin and Bryce Siemens and Jace Gibbs; nephew, Mike Dutton; and many beloved cousins, friends, and former students.

A funeral service for Curtistene, officiated by Rev. Jim Jackson, will be held Saturday, January 10, 2026, at First Methodist Church in Madisonville, Texas at 11:00 am, followed by burial in the Allphin Cemetery. Visitation will take place one hour before the service.

Final arrangements for Curtistene Baylor are under the compassionate care and direction of Madisonville Funeral Home, Madisonville, Texas.
