1948 – 2025 Cynthia Louise Buzzy (Harrington), age 77, of Viera, FL, passed away
peacefully in hospice care in Rockledge, FL, on June 12, 2025, surrounded by
her children, after a brief and courageous battle with terminal cancer.
Born in Johnson City, NY, Cynthia-affectionately known as Cindy-was a
beloved mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, teacher, and friend. Her
warmth, compassion, and enduring dedication to others left a lasting impact
on countless lives. Cindy was a wonderful Home and Careers teacher whose passion for
teaching showed through in every classroom she entered. As she moved
throughout her life-from upstate New York to Florida-she continued to
share her knowledge and care of students in several schools. Even in
retirement, her love of teaching never faded; she continued to substitute
teach simply because she found so much joy in helping others learn.
After retiring fully, Cindy moved to Viera, FL, to be closer to her daughter and
grandson. She found great joy in cheering from the sidelines at her grandson
Aiden's soccer games and cherished the everyday moments spent with her
family. Cindy was a talented homemaker who found joy in sewing, quilting, and
cooking-skills she lovingly passed on to her grandchildren, especially her
grandsons, who shared her passion in the kitchen. She was also a lifelong
soccer fan, especially devoted to Hartwick College Soccer. Her close
friendship with Katie Liekoski began during those years, and she became a
second mom to many of the athletes, offering meals, encouragement, and a
true home away from home. Later, she continued this love of the game
through her work with the Orlando City Soccer Club. Cindy and her former husband, Neal Buzzy, remained close friends after their
divorce over 30 years ago. For the last 20 years, they lived together in
Florida, sharing a strong bond and companionship. Cynthia is survived by her son, Brett Buzzy, and his wife Heidi; and their
children Mickaela (24), Anika (21), Dakoda (20), and Nikoala (14); and her
daughter, Stephanie Holtkamp, and her son Aiden (17). She is also survived
by her beloved mother, Patricia Harrington (96); her sister Becky Sotkovsky
and husband Russell; her niece Christine Sharpe and husband David, and
their children, Vincent (23) and Sophie (19); and her sister Patti Verdon and
husband Jimmy, along with their daughter Sarah Mills and husband Patrick
and children Luke (7) and Eliza (5). Cindy was predeceased by her father
Harry Harrington and her dogs Molly, Mickey and Max. A celebration of life honoring Cynthia's legacy will be held on Elmore Soccer
Field during this Falls Alumni Weekend at Hartwick College, a place close to
her heart and one she personally chose for this remembrance.
Cindy will be deeply missed, fondly remembered, and forever cherished.
