Cindy Jean Dann, beloved wife, mother, and amazing Meme, 74, passed away at St. Lukes Health Care Facility, Friday, November 7, after an extensive battle with Alzheimer's Disease.

Cindy was born in Tupper Lake, NY, to Herman and Rita Bishop, moved to Phoenix, NY where she met the love of her life, Gary, and raised a family. Being a stay-at-home mom with their daughter Angela was her greatest joy, until her grandsons, Zachary and Joshua made her a Meme, her favorite role of all. She was loving, compassionate, fun, and talented, to say the least.

She loved being with family, camping with them every year at Fish Creek, and playing games or cards with them. She was a talented painter and was a crafter for many years. She was an amazing quilter as well, and made many amazing Halloween costumes through the years. But her all time favorite activity was riding her motorcycle with Gary. They rode together their entire relationship, and they are very thankful for being able to take trips across the country on the motorcycles long before retirement.

Cindy will always be remembered for her love of others, especially family, and her spunk. Her family couldn't have asked for a better wife, mother, and Meme, and they will always remember all that she gave them. Cindy's memory will live on in the hearts of all those who loved her, including her great-granddaughter, Jacey Jean, who will carry on her name and her spirit. Cindy would have loved her to pieces! But now the family can be at peace knowing she is in all of God's glory watching over them.

Cindy was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Rita Bishop; her sisters, Carolyn Fortier and Sandra Sharp; and brother, Donald Bishop.

She is survived by her husband, Gary Dann; daughter, Angela (Richard) Van Gorder; sister, Barbara (Kenny) Rabideau; and brother, David Bishop; grandsons, Zack (Mikayla) Van Gorder and Joshua Van Gorder; great-granddaughter, Jacey Jean Van Gorder; and many nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be Friday, November 14, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Falardeau Funeral Home, 93 Downer St., Baldwinsville. A funeral service will follow at 7 p.m.

Cindy suffered for over 10 years with Alzheimer's, most of which carried a cognitive decline causing her to not even recognize her family. It is a heart wrenching disease, and family can often go through losing them twice. She spent her last few years in St. Luke's nursing home to provide her with the extensive care needed in the late disease stages. Alzheimer's affects over 6 million living and extends as the sixth leading cause of death in America.

In lieu of flowers, the family is collecting donations to present to St Luke's Health Care Facility out of gratitude for the care received.
