Cynthia Koppenhaver Obituary

Cynthia Koppenhaver, 66, went to be with her Lord on Monday evening, October 21, 2024. Funeral services will be held 10:30 Friday morning, October 25, 2024, at the Goettsch Funeral Home, Anamosa with interment in the Riverside Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 3 until 5:30 Thursday afternoon at the Veritas Church, 509 3rd St. SE. Cedar Rapids. Goettsch Funeral home has taken Cindy and her family into their care. Cynthia Rae Koppenhaver was born February 28, 1958, in Anamosa, Iowa. Cindy was baptized at St. Paul Lutheran Church but was born again in 2001. In 2018 she joined her Veritas Church in Cedar Rapids. She loved this church and we as her family cannot express the love, we have for all the congregation for the help and care they gave to Cindy. Cindy graduated from the Anamosa Community Schools in 1976. She was employed at Comfort Care in Cedar Rapids for 25 years. Cindy loved her job as a home health aide and loved her clients. She loved her connection group at Veritas, co-workers at Comfort Care, Carrie (Care Bear), Anne and Sarah Beth. Those left to cherish Cindy's memory are her mother, Janice Koppenhaver, her brother Thomas and family, Summer (Kaya), Tatiana, Cash and Presley, sisters, Marla Spinler and family, Scott (Kenzie), Finn and Sawyer, Kathryn (Elizabeth), Jadyn, Susan (Ed) Koppenhaver, Andrew (Emily), Ross, Amy Koppehaver, and special friends, Joshua (Ruth) Smith, Wyatt, Walker, Heidi (Grant) Whitney and Addyson, Dillon Marshall and special pen-pal Jadyn Williams. She was preceded in death by her father, Thomas M. Koppenhaver, nephew, Sam Spinler, brothers-in-law, Brad Spinler and Les Rogers and sister-in-law, Diane Koppenhaver. Cindy was an avid Green Bay Packer, Hawkeye Football, and Iowa Women's Basketball fan. She was a lot of things to a lot of people and tried to do it always with kindness and care. The family would like to thank Hospice of Mercy and the Veritas Church Family for all they did for Cindy. Memorials may be made to either one of these groups or to the family.

Cindy was a great guide and friend to me. She had integrity.
She was compassionate, patient, thorough, punctual... and a great listener! We had a spiritual connection. I miss her so much and think of her often. I am edified by the suffering she endured. May you rest in peace, Cindy!

When I met Cindy over 30 years ago, we were the first of the women to be in the construction field. So many fun memories on the job sites and off the job sites. She was a genuine soul that will forever be a part of me. When I saw her this past summer, I had no idea that would be my last time to see her. That moment will always be a special memory. Until we meet again my sweet friend. I will think of you always.
