D'LaBrea Blakely Obituary

Published by Legacy on Nov. 17, 2025.
With hearts full of love and gratitude for a life well lived, the family of D'LaBrea Joinee Blakely, age 62, of Dallas, Texas, announces her transition from labor to reward on November 14, 2025. Though our hearts are heavy, we rejoice knowing she is at peace in the presence of the Lord, reunited with her beloved father, Dr. David Blakely, who welcomed her home.

Born with a radiant spirit and a heart overflowing with compassion, D'Labrea lived her life in a way that touched countless souls. She was a gifted singer, a dedicated saxophonist of 15 years, and a passionate domestic violence advocate and educator, using her voice-both in song and in purpose-to bring healing, awareness, and hope to others. Her joy was contagious. Her laughter filled every room. And her generosity knew no bounds. She gave freely, loved deeply, and never met a stranger.

Although she never birthed children of her own, she embraced many as if they were

hers-nurturing, encouraging, and investing in the next generation with a heart that was big enough for everyone. D'LaBrea was the "life of the party," a bright flame of joy whose presence made ordinary moments unforgettable.

She leaves to cherish her legacy of love and unwavering kindness: her devoted mother,

Dolores Blakely; her brothers, Dr. David Allen (Curita) Blakely and Daren Kent (Dr. Nikia)

Blakely; two nephews, De'Miyon Hall and Armani (Jade) Blakely; one niece, Chanel-Christian Blakely; and ten great-nieces and great-nephews who adored her dearly: Samaiya, Elisha, Christian, Is'Rael, Nikole, Naria, Judah, Gavin, Gianna, and Ace.

She is also lovingly remembered by a large and beautiful family of uncles and aunts: (the late Melvin) Denise Foote; Juanita (the late Charles) Stokes; Emma (the late TJ) Copprue; Melvin (Oneida) Blakely; Madine Randolph; Harold (Gayle) Blakely; Yvonne (Benjamin) Allen; Sharon (Dewitt) Jackson; Kenneth (Racine) Blakely; Graylan (Jenine) Blakely; Lorraine Johnson; Carlene (Leroy) Brookins; Alvin (Esther) Lee; Alfreda (Clarence) Phillips; Anita (Samuel) Warren and Alton Lee, 4 special friends: Jean Stewart, Vicky Lee, Lorainne East and the late Anitra Long, along with a host of adopted nieces, nephews, other relatives, saints, and friends who loved her deeply.

D'LaBrea's life was a melody of faith, love, generosity, and joy. She leaves behind footprints of kindness and a legacy that will continue to inspire all who knew her. While we mourn her passing, we celebrate the gift of her life and the everlasting impact she made on this world. Her light will forever shine in our hearts.

May her soul rest peacefully in the everlasting arms of Jesus, and may we honor her memory by showing the same love, compassion, and generosity she poured into so many.
