DAISY ALICE CARLSON
December 25, 1930 - November 8, 2025
Our dear mom Daisy passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 8th. She filled her life with family, beautiful friendships, students, participation in numerous groups, as well as being an amazing hostess, cook, and cookie baker. Her calendar was a treasured asset - and for good reason. Her energy and zest for life was nonstop until the good Lord took her home.
Daisy grew up in North Minneapolis and still had many life-long friends from her youth. She received a teaching degree from the University of Minnesota, and until recently, attended KKL sorority lunches. Daisy was an elementary and special education teacher in the Robbinsdale School District. Through teaching, she had many treasured relationships and even participated in "bagel group" with other teachers as recently as this summer.
In 1954 Daisy married Donald and they had three "ducklings", Carol, Barb, and Nancy. She and Don loved to travel with their girls on summer car trips across the country. Daisy also loved international travel, making many trips to Sweden to visit relatives as well as countries in central Europe.
Sadly, Daisy lost Don in 2000 and spent 25 years as a widow. She filled those years with 8 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, Elim Church Choir, Treble Tones Choir, West Suburban Women's Club, KKL sorority, and numerous church and community projects. She was a long-time supporter of the American Swedish Institute, volunteering there as well as honing her Swedish language skills. She was quick to offer help and quick to treat everyone kindly.
Daisy was proceeded in death by her husband Don, parents Vera and Harold Hattstrom, and son-in-law Bruce Johnson. She is survived by daughters Carol Lorentzen (Steve), Barb Johnson, Nancy Bordson (Brent); grandchildren Jason (Hannah), Jeff, Eric (Meredith), Brittany, Kelsey, Ryan, Olivia (Ross) & Beau (Kara); 5 great-grandchildren; siblings Lila Luther and Curt Hattstrom; nieces and nephews.
Her family is so grateful to all of you who brought her so much joy. We want to give a special thanks to the Staff of Parks' Place Memory Care, Griswold Home Health, and Orchards of Minnetonka, who loved and cared for her over this last year as her nearly 95 years started to catch up to her.
Memorials preferred to Elim Lutheran Church, Luther Park (Danbury, WI), or American Swedish Institute.
