Daisy Thompson Hensley

Daisy Thompson Hensley, age 86, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away on Thursday evening, surrounded by the love she so faithfully gave throughout her life.

Daisy was married to the love of her life, Gordon, for 67 years, a partnership built on faith, devotion, hard work, and enduring love. Together, they created a home grounded in kindness, perseverance, and unwavering commitment to family.

 A woman of deep and steadfast faith, Daisy loved God with her whole heart and was a deeply dedicated and active member of Concord United Methodist Church for 72 years. Her faith was not only something she professed, but something she demonstrated each day through service, humility, and care for others. She was a hardworking woman who believed in doing things well and doing them with purpose, whether caring for her family, serving her church, or helping those around her.

Above all else, Daisy adored her family. She treasured time spent together, celebrated every milestone, and offered constant love, guidance, and encouragement across all generations. She also cherished her friends and her community. Daisy truly knew no strangers - everyone was met with a big hug, a welcoming smile, a good meal, and sincere friendship. Her home was always open, her table always full, and her heart always ready to give.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Gordon; her daughter, Glenda, and husband Bruce; her sons, Greg and wife Dorothy, Geoffrey, and Gordon; her cherished grandchildren, Sarah, Alex, Luke, Anna, and Houston; and her precious greatgrandchildren, Rylan, Layla, Anakin, and Charlotte.

Friends will be received beginning at 1:00 PM on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at Concord United Methodist Church, located at 8066 Old Linville Road, Marion, NC 28752. Services will be held at the church at 3:00 PM on the same day. 

Following the service, the church will provide a meal in the fellowship hall, and all are welcome to attend and share in a time of remembrance and fellowship.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the United Women in Faith at Concord United Methodist Church, at the same address, designated for the Daisy Hensley Memorial Fund.

Daisy will be sorely missed and lovingly remembered as a faithful servant of God, a tireless worker, a devoted wife and mother, and a woman whose life was defined by love, generosity, and grace. Her legacy lives on in her family, her church, and the many lives she touched.
