Daisy Hooker Obituary
Daisy Hooker
April 25, 1933 - January 7, 2026
It is with a deep sense of loss that the family announces the passing of Daisy Lorine (Tager) Hooker, who departed this world on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Born on April 25, 1933, in Orangeburg County, Daisy lived a life enriched with love, laughter, and the joy of togetherness.
Daisy was a devoted mother to her son, Ricky Zeigler of Orangeburg, and her daughters, Beverly Waltz of Cordova and Karla Weems of Aiken. She took immense pride in her role as a loving "Granny," a title she held dear to her heart. Daisy was blessed with nine grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren, each of whom she adored and took great joy in watching grow and thrive. The legacy of her love and kindness will carry on through her surviving family members, including her dear sister, Dixie Headden, along with a multitude of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. Family was the cornerstone of Daisy's life, and she relished every moment spent making memories with them.
Daisy was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Rudolph and Mary Alma Godwin Tager; her son, William Bradford Zeigler; and two sisters and two brothers, who surely welcomed her with open arms.
Her life was also filled with the simple pleasures of travel and the thrill of finding treasures at thrift stores. Her spirit of exploration and her knack for discovering hidden gems reflected her vibrant personality, one that brought warmth and joy to all who crossed her path.
As we gather to celebrate her remarkable life, we invite family and friends to join us for a visitation on Saturday, January 10, 2026, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. in Orangeburg. A funeral service will be held the following day on Sunday, January 11, at 2 p.m. at Providence Baptist Church, where we will honor and remember Daisy's beautiful spirit. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Dr. Kimmett Lott will be officiating.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are Oscar Aldrete, Rudy Aldrete, B.J. Zeigler, Wayne Anderson, Willie Martinez and Lynn Hooker.
Honorary pallbearers will be Matthew Beckom, Connor Whisenhunt, Ralph Hooker, Bobby Hooker and Alan Hooker.
Though we grieve her passing, we find solace in the memories she has left behind and the love she instilled in all our hearts. Daisy Lorine (Tager) Hooker will be forever missed but never forgotten, as she remains an everlasting presence in the lives she touched.
