Daisy Stackhouse Ingram, 88, of Cary, NC and formerly of Wilmington, NC passed away Nov. 6, 2009 in Cary, N.C. Daisy lived in Wilmington for over sixty years and recently moved to Cary after her husband's death in August 2009. Daisy was born February 18, 1921 in St. Augustine, FL, the daughter of the late William Stackhouse and Mary Ann Byne Stackhouse. She was also preceded in death by her husband Arch C. Ingram, Sr. and a brother, William "Bill" Stackhouse. Daisy graduated as the Salutatorian of her high school class and following graduation she attended accounting classes. She worked for five years as a bookkeeper in St. Augustine FL. Upon moving to Wilmington she became the bookkeeper for Raney Chevrolet and she was a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. Daisy met her husband to be while bowling at Ingram Brothers Bowling Lanes. After their marriage she became a business partner and bookkeeper for the bowling lanes and other joint businesses throughout their sixty years of marriage. Daisy was a member of St. Andrews-Covenant Presbyterian Church. For many years she enjoyed playing golf and bridge. Daisy was always a loving wife, mother and grandmother and will be missed by her family and friends. Daisy is survived a daughter Beverly I. Wait (Terry), Cary, NC; two sons, A.C. Ingram, Jr. (Sue) and Duane Ingram (June), both of Wilmington, NC; 5 grandchildren, April C. Ingram, Courtney Wait, Kathryn Wait, Shannon Ingram and Kelly Ingram; a brother-in-law Claude Ingram, Winston-Salem, NC; two sisters-in-law, Alberta Ingram , Savannah, GA.; and Elva Stackhouse, Goldsboro, NC. The family will receive friends from 3:00pm-5:00pm Sunday, November 8, 2009 at Andrews Mortuary, Valley Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 11:30am Monday November 9, 2009 at St. Andrews Covenant Presbyterian Church with Rev. Rob Lapp officiating. Interment will follow in Oleander Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to either St. Andrews-Covenant Presbyterian Church, 1416 Market St, Wilmington, NC 28401 or the Alzheimer's Association, Eastern NC Chapter, 400 Oberlin Rd., Suite 208, Raleigh, NC 27605.
