Daisy Leone Score, 86, died April 29 at her home in Willmar, Minnesota. Memorial service will be held at 12 noon Wednesday, May 5 at the First Presbyterian Church in Willmar with Rev. Richard Underdahl-Peirce officiating. The burial will be at a later date in Ft. Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis. Friends may call from 5-8 PM Tuesday at Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar and one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be designated for the “Daisy Fund� to provide scholarships for students interested in elementary education. Daisy Leone (Hanke) Score was born January 30, 1924 in Caledonia, Minnesota to Ernest and Sarah (Harer) Hanke. They lived on a farm near Brownsville, Minnesota where Daisy attended grade school. She graduated from Caledonia High School in 1941 and from Winona State Teachers College where she was an elementary education major and was a member of the famed Mendelssohn Choir. She taught second grade in Spring Grove, MN for four years and at Lincoln School in Willmar for 2 years. She also taught at Washington, Garfield, St. Mary’s in Willmar and St. Clara’s at Clara City. On August 27, 1949, she was married to Clifford Score of Willmar at the Evangelical and Reformed Church in Brownsville, Minnesota. Daisy was a 12 year 4-H club member and was Houston County style queen several times. In 1944 she was chosen “Outstanding clothing 4-H member of MN� and represented Houston County at the International 4-H Club Congress in Chicago. She represented all the 4-H members of MN and gave a talk at the annual meeting of the State Fair Board. She was Vice-President of the Minnesota Rural Youth, a Brownie, Junior and Cadette Girl Scout leader, Den mother for Cub Scouts, an executive committee member of the Christian Women’s Club, officer of Church Women United, Presbyterian Women from which she received the life membership pin,, choir, circle leader and officer and quilter. She was a Past President of the Benevolent Patriotic Order of Does 124 and a Doe of the Year. Most important to Daisy were her three children and six granddaughters. She traveled to every state (six times to Alaska-once in their own boat), every Canadian province, many European countries, as well as Lebanon, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Okinawa and Cuba. She loved to fish and hunt with her husband, Clifford. She is survived by her children: Cathy Dawne (Dan) Swenson of Boscobel, Wisconsin, Robert Clifford Skor of Willmar, MInnesota, and Richard Stanley Score of Spicer, Minnesota, as well as six granddaughters; Tiffany Score and Alexa Score of Orlando, Florida, Thamini (Moryam) Van Opstal of Mussourie, India, Jumana Swenson and Amira Swenson of Boscobel, Wisconsin, and Kirsten Anne Skor of Willmar, Minnesota. Also surviving are three sisters; Violet (Harold) Hoglund of Roseville, Ruby Philpot of Beavercreek, Oregon, and Donna Joyce Luttchens of New Albin, Iowa and one brother, Harley (Helen) Hanke of Morris, Minnesota, brother-in-law, Glen Jostad of Brownsville, Minnesota, several nieces and nephews, besides other relatives and friends Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, Clifford Score, two sisters; Iris Anderson and Carmel Jostad and three brothers-in-law, Howard Grant, Elmer Luttchens and Alvin Philpot.
