Dakota Kaiser Obituary

Published by Legacy on Jul. 18, 2025.
Dakota D. Kaiser passed away on July 15th at the age of 88. He was born on April 14, 1937 in Hoven, SD and raised in Sioux Falls. Most of his life was spent in New York City where he always had a dog and a group of friends to enjoy life with. He worked in advertising for Montgomery Wards. Dakota enjoyed art, music, theater and all of the grit and humanity that came with life in NYC. He had a sharp wit, impeccable style and great sense of humor.
Dakota was preceded in death by his parents, Lorena and Ben Kaiser, five brothers and three sisters: Loretta(Gene), Sister Laurina, Al(Patty), Ernie(Harriet), Gertrude, Gil (Alice), Otto (Mary Jo/Bobbie) and Joe.
Dakota is survived by a multitude of nieces and nephews, along with their families, who adored him. He is survived by dear and loyal friends who were also family to him.
Dakota loved dogs more than people. He cherished his dogs Elmer, Bruno, Dietrich and Shadow that shared his life from young adulthood until 2017 when he moved to Assisted Living in Minnesota to be closer to family.
Dakota didn't like to say goodbye, his parting line was always, "Bye for now".
Special thanks to New Perspectives in Mahtomedi and Brighton Hospice for the compassionate care they gave Dakota.
Per Dakota's wishes, there will be no memorial or funeral service. If you wish to offer a memorial in Dakota's name, please consider The Animal Humane Society.
