Dal Soo Han

Dr. Dal Soo Han, celebrated for his generosity, intelligence, and kindness, passed away on January 1, 2026 in Fairfax, VA. Born on October 4, 1934, in Pocheon, Korea, he was a beloved husband to Sook Ja, a cherished father and proud grandfather survived by Matthew Han (and children Ethan and Hannah), Peter Han (and his wife Alenka and children Alex and Michael), and Lisa Han (and her husband Omer and their child). He was a respected figure in the Pittsburgh community for over 40 years before relocating to Northern Virginia to be near his children and grandchildren.

A graduate of the prestigious Seoul National University, where he earned his medical degree, Dr. Han's commitment to service was evident early on as he took on the role of a medical officer in the Korean Navy. In 1964, he married his wife, Sook Ja Kim, before emigrating to the United States with their two sons, where he became a radiologist in the Pittsburgh area.

Beyond his professional achievements, Dr. Han was a man of diverse interests and talents. As a young man in the Korean Navy, he chased adventure in mountain climbing. In the US, he played tennis and skied with his family, but his true joy was on the golf course, spending time with friends using the same focus and patience that he applied to his work. A connoisseur of fine wine, Dr. Han relished the opportunity to explore vineyards and savor new blends with family and friends. He also enjoyed a good whiskey. He passed on his love of travel to all of his children. An avid sports fan, he could be regularly found on Sundays catching the Steelers game with his family.
