As you may know, the Fort Snelling Memorial Chapel Foundation has honored your loved one at its Memorial Day Sunday worship service (each year in May) … since the time of your fallen hero's ultimate sacrifice. We will continue to pay tribute to our nation's veterans … lest we ever forget!
Now we would like to honor you … as the next-of-kin … who have also paid a great price on the altar of liberty. On Sunday 29 September at 11:00 a.m. we will host a Gold Star Family Sunday.

The Fort Snelling Memorial Chapel Foundation will be honoring your loved one at the non-denominational Christian Memorial Day Remembrance worship service at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, 26 May 2013. We will remember the casualties of the Global War on Terrorism from Minnesota … and the bordering states of Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wisconsin. Outside of the historic Fort Snelling Veterans Memorial Chapel will be a “Memorial Garden” filled with some 300 white crosses bearing the names of the war dead … including your loved one.
The Memorial Garden will be encircled with larger white crosses representing all of the wars of our nation's history and give honor to all who have served in the United States Armed Forces and made the ultimate sacrifice for the freedoms we enjoy today. Wreaths will be placed at the foot of each 8-foot cross bearing the number of U.S. Service Members killed in each of America's conflicts.
I would like to extend to your family an invitation to honor us with your presence at worship as we pay tribute to the sacrifice made by your service member and family. Our pastor, Kenneth L. Beale, Jr., will preach a message entitled, “Freedom:Free, but Costly.” At the conclusion of the worship hour, all of the congregation will be invited to silently pay their respects at the garden and there place poppies at each of the crosses. A Memorial Rifle Squad of the Fort Snelling National Cemetery will fire vollies as the US flag is lowered to half-staff and Taps is played. Following your visit to the Memorial Garden, your family is invited to attend an informal reception (weather permitting) outside of the Chapel. The Memorial Garden will remain until 5:00 p.m. on Monday, 27 May (Memorial Day).

I only meet Dale once just days before he was killed. I was stationed on a base, US named “Anaconda.” Dale and his unit were on the base for rest and supplies. Our unit was from MN so there was an instant connection. We were able to play a pickup game of softball and he let me try out the tank an experience I will never forget. I later got word that he was killed on that that following patrol. I talk at the local school every year and haven't yet shared this story but think of it every year. On this Veterans Day I would like to thank Dale for his service and sacrifice and the time we were able to spend with him.

Dear Panchot Family,
Our newspaper published Dale's letter to you. I read his letter to my Bible Study group. We are studying Genesis and were very touched by Dale's awe in touching the water of the river described in Genesis. There is no doubt that Dale felt closer to God while in Iraq. He truly was a warrior of God while there, protecting us and protecting "God's people" the Israelis. Our Bible Study group prayed for you and for Dale. If Dale thought touching the river "was something else" and "pretty cool"...imagine how he felt the day he came face to face with Jesus in His Father's Kingdom! God bless you with His peace and comfort until the day you are reunited with Dale.

If this person can stand in battle to ensure my freedom, then I will stand in grief with his/her family to honor him/her. For every fallen HERO there is a bright star that shines in the evening sky to remind us of the cherished gift we were given – even if for too short a time.
My heart breaks again as I sign yet another guest book of another courageous young soldier who gave their life so selflessly. I wish I never found myself in a position to have to sign another guestbook for the rest of my life, but I promised Le Ron A. Wilson (a dear friend KIA 7/6/07, 18yrs old) that neither he nor any like him would be forgotten and so I will continue until the day there is no longer the need.

My Heart goes out to Dales family. As a 27 year active duty Veteran, I feel proud of Dale and everything he did to serve his country. I just watched the Military video about the painting Kaziah did of Dale. Very touching story and I am so glad you have such a special tribute of Dale to keep close to your heart. I am sorry it took me so long to post an entry for your family member. I am trying to catch up posting condolences after I was informed of this website. God Bless Legacy.com for allowing me to honor these heros. Especailly this young man that I had such a hand in leading to his first Military assignment.
I can't imagine what you have been going through since being notified of the death of your young Warrior. The Military and families all over the USA and world are still grieving with you and praying for you. What a very brave individual you have in your family that would give up a life for their homeland and its people so they can remain free. Your Freedom Fighter served the Country above and beyond the call of duty, let no one ever tell you different. With his mission now completed your Warrior has been redeployed to Heaven to sit on the right hand of the Supreme Commander and Chief. The Father above has Dale in his arms and has given him peace as well as eventually easing your pain and suffering. God speed to you and Staff Sgt. Dale A. Panchot, my HERO. The Fort Snelling Memorial Chapel Foundation will be honoring your loved one at the non-denominational Memorial Day Sunday worship service at 11:00 a.m. on 27 May, 2007. We will remember the casualties of the Global War on Terrorism from Minnesota … and the neighboring states of Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wisconsin. Outside of the historic Fort Snelling Veterans Memorial Chapel will be a “Memorial Garden” filled with white crosses bearing the names of the war dead … including your loved one.
I would like to extend to your family an invitation to honor us with your presence at worship as we pay tribute to the sacrifice made by your service member and family. Our pastor, U.S. Army Chaplain, LTC Kenneth L. Beale, Jr. will preach a message entitled “Remembering” At the conclusion of the worship hour, all of the congregation will be invited to silently pay their respects at the garden and place poppies at each of the crosses. An honor guard squad will be on hand to fire vollies as the US flag is lowered to half-staff and Taps is played.
As this Christian worship service has traditionally been well attended, we would be happy to reserve seating for you and yours. From the day I returned from Iraq there has been a picture of Dale on my refrigerator. It is a picure of us having Christmas dinner in Kuwait. I was Dale's squadleader in Iraq and helped promote him to SSG. My 1-12 PLT was devistated to hear of his death as he spent two years in my Platoon. You are missed daily my friend.

I only knew Dale through my brother Stanley Hofferber now a Sergeant in the US ARMY. Dale must of been a wonderful man and to know that he served right next to my brother means a lot for Dale. Always doing the right thing. I am going back into the ARMY now and I am to be a Military Police Officer myself. I will serve 3 years more for not only myself and Sgt Hofferber but for Dale. I knew SSG Dale Panchot when we were both deployed to Kuwait in 2001. From what I got to know of him, he was not only a very committed soldier and NCO, but also a exceptional person. One day really sticks out when I gave him an I.V. in the back of my ambulance because he was getting dehydrated. I believe I even have a picture of him that I took of him eating an MRE at the back of my vehicle. I will try to find it for the family and post it on here.

SSG Panchot was in B Co 1-8 INF with me, I didnt know him personally but i had met him a couple of times while in Iraq. He was a great soldier and individual. He was a brother in arms. He will Be missed. My heart goes out to his family and loved ones.

I didn't know Dale, but I do know folks from Northome. My parents live in Chisholm, not so very far away. Dale joins a long line of heroes America has produced. American tears are shed in remembrance of Dale and all those who have given the last full measure of devotion.
