He was born December 14, 1932, in Parsons, to James Melvin Alexander and Neva (McMillan) Alexander. He attended Parsons schools and had been a part of the family business, Alexander Manufacturing Co, from an early age. The business was founded by his father, Melvin Alexander, in 1927 and has continued in operation for 95 years. He continued being a part of the business until he quit working at the age of 75.
Dale served his country in the 82nd Airborne Division. As his boys were in their youth he served as a Cub Master, Webelos Master and as a adult advisor with their Boy Scout troop. He was a member of the First Christian Church and had served as a deacon and as a member of the planning committee for the new church building. He was active with the former Optimist Club that was instrumental in establishing the first soccer activity in Parsons.
Dale and Kay Cuddy were married on June 14, 1957 in Oswego. This year they observed their 65th anniversary.
Surviving is his wife, Kay, of the home; sons, Don Alexander and wife Jane of Parsons, Mike Alexander and wife Tammy, of Coffeyville; daughter, Dana Yanez and husband Paul of Parsons; five grandchildren, Darren Alexander and wife Cassie and their daughter Brooklyn, Jason Alexander and wife Jessica and their children Eleanor and Grayson of Coffeyville, Jeff Alexander and wife Emily, Joey Alexander and Laura Stringer and husband Joe and their children Jasper and Lawson of Parsons; two sisters, Dorothy Christy of Talassee, Alabama and Lois Standridge Nibarger of Parsons. A sister, Mary Ellen Dodds, preceded him in death.
A graveside service will be at 2 p.m., Monday, November 14, at Oakwood Cemetery.
Friends are welcome to sign the register at the Carson-Wall Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to the St. Patrick Church restoration fund. They may be left at or sent to the funeral home at Box 942, Parsons, KS 67357.
