Dale Anderson, 75, of LaBolt, SD, passed away on Friday, February 23, 2024, at Avantara in Milbank, SD.

Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 2, 2024, at Countryside Covenant Church near LaBolt. Pastor John DePalma will officiate. Memorial Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Inurnment will follow at LaBolt Cemetery.

Dale Emery Anderson was born on September 28, 1948, to Arnold "Emery" and Helen (Jerde) Anderson in Milbank, SD. He was baptized and confirmed at LaBolt Evangelical Covenant Church in LaBolt, SD. He attended grade school in LaBolt and later graduated from Milbank High School in 1966. Dale worked at the Herald Advance newspaper in Milbank during high school and after graduating worked for Honeywell in Minneapolis before he was drafted into the United States Army in March 1969. Dale was honorably discharged in February 1971. He was awarded: National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge Air Medal, and Bronze Star Medal.

After returning to LaBolt, Dale worked as Fire Chief in LaBolt until he started traveling with the railroad. He started working for Burlington Northern railroad and when he was laid off attend SDSU for one semester where he met his bride to be, Betty Threadgold.  They were married on September 15, 1973, and recently celebrated their 50th anniversary. The couple made their home in LaBolt and were blessed with four children: Heidi, Hannah, Josh, and Hayley. Dale worked for Burlington Northern where he held many titles for over the course of 35 years. Dale was not a man of many words but enjoyed the company of his coffee group. He was a lifetime member of Countryside Covenant Church (LaBolt Evangelical Covenant) where he served on the council and was an usher. He was a member of: the VFW; Fifth Battalion Seventh Calvary Association; Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter # 1054; Disabled American Veterans; and the American Legion for 51 years. He savored taking things apart to later put them back together. He loved looking at cars. Anytime he was in town you could be sure to find him driving through the dealerships. He was fond of attending local auctions. Dale was thrilled to be spending time outdoors going deer and pheasant hunting. He and his dad owned a cabin on Big Stone Lake where many memories were made as he drove his boat. Dale enjoyed watching the Twins, Vikings, and game shows on television. Of course, he was known to love all of his very special dogs who placed a huge part in his life. Above all these things, Dale was truly honored to spend his time with his wife, cherished children, and amazing grandchildren.

Dale will be forever loved and deeply missed by his wife, Betty of LaBolt, SD; their four children: Heidi (Dan) Beach of Ashley, ND; Hannah (Branden) Stewart of Aberdeen, SD; Josh Anderson of Woodworth, ND; and Hayley (Nathan) Harrington of Clarkston, WA; sister, Karen Layher of Milbank, SD; twin brother, Duane (Sue) Anderson of Laurel, MT; sisters-in-law: Kathleen Threadgold of Sioux Falls, SD; Janice (Don) Froehlich of Brookings, SD; and Kathie (Roger) Nordtvedt of Sioux Falls, SD; and Dianne Threadgold of Topeka, KS; six grandchildren: Carter (Maddie) Anderson; Kebba Beach; Keeda Beach; Bianka Stewart; Keegan Stewart; and Kellan Stewart and Baby Harrington due in August; many nieces and nephews; and of course, his eight grand-dogs.

Dale is preceded in death by his parents: Emery and Helen Anderson; his father and mother in-law: Robert and Doris Threadgold; his brothers-in-law: Charles Layher; Bob Threadgold; and Donald Threadgold.
