Dale Duane Dove, Sr. 83, passed away on August 19, 2024. He was born on April 28, 1941 in Kalamazoo, Michigan to Ralph and Eleanor Dove.
In Michigan, Dale worked in a paint store selling paint, wallpaper and carpeting. He was very good at coordinating colors as you can see by the colorful shirts that he always wore. After a couple of years, the furniture store across the street asked him to sell furniture and carpeting, where he learned how to install carpet for his customers. Dale eventually became a Furniture Representative for the state of Michigan and after moving to Indiana, he also traveled the state of Indiana until he retired at the age of 70.
Dale has always loved to work outside in the dirt planting vegetable and flowers gardens. Since living in the condo, he changed to planting lots of flowers. Dale also liked to work inside, remodeling and coordinating our paint, furniture and accessories. He always kept a list of things to do and was always actively working on a project. Dale would start a project and would not quit until it was done. He was like the “Energizer Bunny”. Dale also enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren in Michigan, Arizona, Minnesota and Indiana.
On January 5, 1979, he started on a new journey in his life and became an active member of a 12 step program. He went through a lot of struggles in the beginning, but the 12 steps helped him change his life. Dale worked and lived the 12 steps every day, and mended some broken relationships. Dale was very grateful to celebrate 45 years of sobriety with the help of his Higher Power, the program and his many friends. Dale touched so many lives and will be deeply missed by everyone.
Dale is survived by his wife of 53 years, Sherry, children: daughter Dawn Johnson, Arizona, sons Dale Jr. (Lisa), Michigan, Jeff (Julie), Minnesota and Brad (Chele) Indiana. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren, Linsay, Meagan, Adam, Paul, Abby, Caleb, Nate, Sarah and Emma and 5 great grandchildren, Porter, Scarlett, Ainsleigh, Ceciliana and Charlotte.
On August 31, 2024 there will be visitation from 12:00- 2:00 p.m. and a memorial service at 2:00 p.m. at Flanner Buchanan Speedway.
Interment will be held at a later date at Battle Creek Memorial Park in Battle Creek, Michigan.
