Dale O. Hartzell, 93, of Clearwater, FL, formerly of Albany, GA, died March 30, 2025, at AccentCare Hospice. Graveside funeral services will be held Friday, April 4, 2025, at 11:00 am at Crown Hill Cemetery. Ross Powell will officiate.
A native of Alliance, OH, Mr. Hartzell was born to Alfred David and Faith Halcyn Hartzell on November 24, 1931. Dale followed his twin Dean by four minutes. Their family owned a dairy farm, and Alfred was also a refinisher and painter. The twins came to Christ at a friend’s church where there was an evangelistic meeting when they were in grade school. They attended Louisville High School and then they attended Cleveland Bible College. Afterwards they joined the Navy for a four year enlistment. The twins would travel to many churches in military uniform to sing an inspiring gospel song. The people would be compelled to come to the altar.
He and his late wife, Nina, were married in Memphis, TN at Bellevue Baptist Church in 1952. Dale and Nina were happily married for sixty two years before her death in 2015. Dale was employed by IBM as an engineer for many years. Dale loved the Lord serving as a Sunday School Teacher to elementary and middle children in his earlier years, leading congregational singing, sharing Jesus to parents of his students, and serving as a deacon,
Dale and Nina transferred with IBM to Albany, Georgia in 1978, where they attended Sherwood Baptist Church. Dale adored Nina and was a family man. Dale would take Nina on vacation and was absolutely devoted to her happiness, while they enjoyed annual visits to the mountains and the beach. Nina passed in 2015 and is very much missed even to this day. Even after his wife’s death, Dale pursued life extensive traveling to see his children in Rhode Island and Florida. He also bought into a beach condo with family and went camping with David four months a year. In 2024, Dale and David moved to Clearwater, FL to be closer to more of his children.
Survivors include his children, David Hartzell of Clearwater, FL, Tina (Keith) James of Navarre, FL and Sharon (Ron) Goins of Clearwater, FL. His daughter Nancy (Joe) Bailey and David’s wife Mary Beth (Skip) are deceased. Dale’s grandson, (David’s son) Barry and wife Misty Melton and one great granddaughter Malia Melton. Survivors also include his twin brother, Dean Hartzell of Olympia Washington.
Dale Hartzell left a handprint pointing to Christ, love and devotion to his family and love for God’s gift of life.
