Dale LaFoy Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Dannel Funeral Home on May 12, 2025.
Dale Anthony LaFoy of Sherman entered into the arms of his Lord and Savior on May 7, 2025,
surrounded by the family he so deeply loved. Born on January 14th, 1959, Dale lived a life
defined by devotion to Jesus, unbreakable love to his wife and children, and adoration of his
many life-long friends.
From early on, Dale felt a calling to serve others in ways not only in the church but throughout
the community as well. Dale was a dedicated community leader who was passionate about
making a difference in the lives of others, and he generously gave his time and energy to
numerous organizations, all of which left a lasting impact on the community. Among his many
volunteer roles he served as:
- President of the PTA
- President of the House of Eli
- Member of the board at the Sherman Museum helping to preserve and promote the arts
and culture.
- Volunteer at TMC Hospital
- Appointed to the Republican Party, using his leadership to influence local political affairs
and policies
- President of the Little League of Sherman
- Many roles in the church, including but not limited to Youth Leader, Music Director,
Sunday School Teacher
- Instructor for NT Best
- Board member of The Rehabilitation Center of Sherman for many years
In addition to his many volunteer roles, Dale committed four decades of his life to his successful
career at Raytheon, where he built lifelong friendships and left a legacy of excellence, innovation
and mentorship.
Among the most important roles Dale played, was his willingness to share the Gospel of Jesus to
anyone who was willing to listen. He committed himself to speaking truth into those around him
and sharing the love of Christ and being the light of Jesus with anyone who encountered him.
Faith wasn't just a part of his life- it was his life.
As an avid antique collector, (and an antique himself), Dale shared his love for antiques with his
beautiful wife Janet and those who frequented the Sherman Antique mall, where he spent many
days of his retirement.
To those who knew him, Dale was more than a leader or outspoken community member; he was
a loving husband, an involved father, a friend, and a confidant. He knew no stranger, and he was
the kind of person who made every gathering a little warmer, every conversation a little lighter,
and every song a little louder. His love of singing and laughter was evident at every gathering,
whether it be a church function or just a simple family night at home.
Dale will be remembered as the smile that welcomed you to Post Oak Fellowship, the church he
was a founding member of and loved deeply, the singing voice that echoed through the church's
walls, and the legacy of friendliness that he spread everywhere he went. He was a man of
wisdom, generosity, and humor who touched the lives of all who knew him.
Dale is survived by his loving wife Janet LaFoy, Daughter Desiree Adams (husband Jeff), Son
Dillon LaFoy (wife Kaylie), Daughter Franki Guess (Husband Joseph), and Daughter Liana
Hamilton (husband Chandler); his grandchildren Lindzee, Nathan, Creede, Talan, Slaton, Ronan,
Anabelle, Allie, Beckett, Saylor and Baker, all of whom he cherished dearly.
He is preceded in death by his son Christian, Brother John LaFoy and parents JD and Freda
LaFoy.
A celebration of Dale's life will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, May 14 at Post Oak
Fellowship where we will gather to honor his memory and share stories. A gravesite service will
follow at West Hill Cemetery in Sherman, Tx.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Dale's honor to Post Oak
Fellowship of Sherman, Texas; the church that was closest to Dale's heart.
As he so often reminded us, "For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain"- Philippians 1:21,- a
promise we hold close as we release him into the loving arms of his Savior.
