Dale Van Minsel

Dale Van Minsel, 70, Howards Grove, passed away November 9, 2025 at the Sharon Richardson Community Hospice. Dale was born on September 3, 1955 to John and Bernice (Kleinow) Van Minsel. Dale graduated from North High School, Sheboygan. He was proud to have helped Gene Mueller (retired from WTMJ radio) to start in radio via the North High School radio station.
Dale started his work history at Musicland in Sheboygan which grew his love of music. His next step was working at Lakeshore Technical Institute (LTI) in media services. This position helped grow his photographic skills. While working in media services he met his future wife, Diane Whitney, who was the yearbook photographer. They were married in January, 1985. Other employers included Kohler Company, Silver Lake College and HSA Bank. Dale retired after that to continue his love of photography and enjoying music.
Dale became a known iPhoneographer via an article in the Fond du Lac Reporter from Sunday, April 14, 2013. His photography was in many venues starting with an exhibit at Internazionale a Ferrara, Ferrara, Italy in 2012, Fox Cities Magazine cover art January 2013, Manitowoc/Two Rivers 2013 Official Visitors Guide, Art Expo in New York 2013, and numerous other galleries and museums all over the area (go to dvanminsel.weebly.com) to see all the exhibits (2012 – 2025) and classes that were taught by Dale. Artwork was also published in Black & White Magazine in January 2021 and again in June, 2025.
Dale is survived by his wife Diane, sister Diane (Alan) Koenig, niece Jacqueline (Chase) Fredrick, nephew Michael Koenig, and great-nephew Grant Fredrick. Dale was preceded in death by his parents, John and Bernice Van Minsel.
A session to view his photographic talents and share stories will be held on Tuesday, November 18, 2025 from 5 pm until 8 pm at the Wittkopp Funeral Home, Plymouth, with final arrangements at the Calvary Mausoleum, Manitowoc. The Lakeshore Family Funeral Homes, in Plymouth, is assisting with arrangements.
In leu of flowers, please send donations in Dale's name to the Sharon Richardson Community Hospice, Sheboygan Falls. Diane would like to thank the care staff at Sharon Richardson for all their help and love. Dale called the staff "his angels" and he is very correct on this!
