Dale J. Pearson, 84, of St. Charles died Sunday evening, January 14, 2024 at Whitewater Health Services in St. Charles. Dale was born December 12, 1939 in Litchfield to Victor and Irene (Schoolmesters) Pearson. He graduated from Litchfield and went on to attend the University of Minnesota. Dale and Vicki “Skip” (Sederstrom) went to school together, beginning in kindergarten. They married October 1, 1961, making their home near Darwin, MN. They farmed at Darwin until moving to a farm near Elba in 1967. They farmed near Elba until moving to a farm near St. Charles in 1988. They spent the last several years wintering in their Texas home.
Dale was a hardworking farmer, stopping his work only to attend church and family functions. He milked cows until 1990 and prided himself in the Longhorn Cattle he raised, selling beef direct to customers. Dale and Skip enjoyed many trips across the country going to Longhorn shows, and riding horse with their family and friends in the Whitewater Saddle Club. He had been a leader for the Quincy Ramblers 4-H Club, active in the FFA, St. Charles Moose Lodge, member and past president of North Star Texas Longhorn Association, lifetime member of Texas Longhorn Breeders Association and International Texas Longhorn Association, and a longtime member of the SE Minnesota Bluegrass Association. Dale was also a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Elba since 1967 and St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church since 2022.
Dale is survived by his wife, Skip, six children, Teri (Bob Rogers) Hart of Honolulu, Hawaii; Dan Pearson of St. Charles; Sherry Pearson of Denver, CO; Steve (Jenell) Pearson of St. Charles; Michelle (Jeff) Balentine also of Denver; and John (Amber) Pearson of St. Charles, grandchildren; John Hart, Graham Hart, Devin Pearson, Jamie Todd, Andy Ostrom, Abigail Foley, Amanda Rigsby, Tate Pearson, Josie Boyum, Adalyn Boice, Haley Balentine, Jaye Balentine, Colton Pearson, Talyn Pearson, and Carly Pearson, great-grandchildren; Jackson, Benston, Jameson, Layna, Brett, Tori, Everett, and Clay, and four brothers; Lamont (Nancy) Pearson, Harold (Mary) Pearson, Charles (Tim) Pearson, and Rick (Lorinda) Pearson. He was preceded in death by his daughter Mary Jo in 1970 and a son, Tom in 1980.
A Funeral Mass for Dale will be 11 a.m. Friday, January 26, 2024 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church with the Reverend Shawn Haremza officiating. A visitation will be at church Thursday, January 25th from 4-7 p.m. and 10 – 11 a.m. Friday. Burial will be in St. Aloysius Catholic Cemetery in Elba. The Pearson family would like to thank the staff at Whitewater Health Services and Dr. Hankel for their care.
