Master Sergeant Dale J Ramsey, USAF Retired, of San Antonio, Texas passed away on Saturday, September 6, 2025 at the age of 76. He was born on November 15, 1948 in Paxton, Illinois to Robert Eugene Ramsey and Veda Rae Hughes and was raised in Santa Barbara, California.
Dale was a decorated Vietnam Veteran who proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for 20 years as a Security Policeman, a K9 Handler, and then Superintendent of Security. While attending training at Lackland AFB in Oct 1972, he met his wife, Ollie “Trudy” Howard, on a blind date. They were married April 7, 1973.
After retiring from the Air Force in 1988, he and his wife settled in San Antonio, Texas with their two children. Dale worked for Methodist Mission Home (now Providence Place) as an IT Administrator. He retired from there in 2012, after 24 years.
Dale’s hobbies included bowling, fishing, hunting, camping, gardening, and spending time with his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Edwin Ramsey, and his granddaughter, Leah Ramsey.
Dale is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Trudy; one son, Chris (Jessica) Ramsey of New Braunfels, Texas; one daughter, Amanda Ramsey of San Antonio, Texas; three grandchildren, MacKenzie Ramsey, Zakary Ramsey, and Kylie Ramsey; one brother, Terry (Mary) Ramsey of Santa Barbara, California; one sister, Bobette (Jon) Mauck of McKinney, Texas; along with many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Graveside services will be held at Fort Sam Houston at 10 am Thursday, September 25, 2025.
Visitation will be held from 4 pm to 8 pm, Wednesday, September 24, 2025 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home.
