With profound sorrow, and everlasting peace, we announce the passing of Dale Scheer, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend who departed this life on November 8, 2023. Dale was born on February 5, 1945, in
Creighton, NE, son of Elmer Scheer and Erma (Nelson) Scheer. Dale was raised on a farm East of Creighton. After his graduation from Creighton High School in 1963, Dale bravely served his country by enlisting in the Air Force. From January 1964 to December 1967, he served in the Air Force Police Squadron, dedicating his efforts to the safety and security of his fellow servicemen and women.
After the military, rekindling their relationship, he married Delores Detlefsen on December 30, 1968. Dale, Dee and daughter Karen made their home in Casper, WY, completing their family by welcoming their son, Dale Jr in December of 1969. Years later they moved back to Nebraska to be closer to family. They settled in West Point, Nebraska where Dale built a business as a mechanic, then moved to the Lincoln area where his career changed to a driving truck for Metalworks, Inc.
Dale enjoyed spending time with his family being outdoors, hunting, fishing, camping. Upon retirement he took camping to another level and became a campground host. The last six years of his life he served family and friends as a constant reminder that you can never keep a good man down, by surviving and overcoming a life changing stroke. His love for his wife was apparent to all who knew and witnessed their life together. Dale's legacy of love, loyalty and determination will forever be cherished by his family.
Dale is survived by his wife, Dee Scheer; children, Karen (Rob) Ernesti, Dale Scheer, Jr.; grandchildren, Jennifer (Bryan) Smith, Ashley (Griffin) Jadwin, Brittney (Adam) Kovar, Zach (Onna) Ernesti, Asher Scheer; great-grandchildren, Elijah, Aaron, Jackson, Carter, Annabelle, and Sloan.
Dale was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Erma Scheer; siblings, Phillip, and Lois
Celebration of life for Dale Scheer will be held on Tuesday, November 21, 2023, at 10:00 am, at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home, 5200 R Street,
Lincoln, Nebraska, 68504.
