Dale L. Stacy

Dale L. Stacy, 96, of Old Fort on Sunday, October 17, 2021 at his residence.
Dale was born October 28, 1924, in Green Springs, to the late Clyde S. and Loa (Fenstermaker) Stacy. He married Velma (Hall) in Tiffin on March 9, 1947 and she survives in Old Fort.
Dale is survived by his children, Doris Irene (Paul) Herringshaw, of Bowling Green, Dennis Lee (Jane) Stacy of Old Fort and Douglas Lynn (Holly) Stacy of Old Fort; Eight grandchildren, Sarah Brooks, Brian Herringshaw, David Stacy, Dawn Thayer, Darla Larson, Daniel Stacy, Dean Stacy and Diana Podach; Thirteen great grandchildren.
Dale was preceded in death by his parents, step-mother, Mary Viola (Karg), a brother, Ralph Stacy and two sisters.
Dale was a lifelong farmer, a community leader and a former politician. He was member of the Old Fort United Methodist Church and a 1942 graduate of Old Fort School.
Dale started farming at a young age, earned his State Farmer Degree, was named Outstanding Young Farmer in Seneca County, and helped organize the local Dairy Herd Improvement Association and the Jersey Breeders. He served as President of the Ohio Jersey Breeders Association, and retired as a President of Vel-a-Da Inc. several years ago.
In his community he served on the Old Fort Elevator Board, active in Farm Bureau, Old Fort Community Grange and master for Seneca County Pomona Grange. He was President of the Seneca County Junior Fair Foundation, a member of Green Springs Masonic Lodge, Tiffin Shrine Club and a founding member of the Old Fort Lions Club. He was inducted into the Seneca County Ag Hall of Fame in 1989.
Dale's political career started when he was elected to the Seneca County Republican Central Committee in 1966. He was Chairman of the local Republican Party for many years.
He served as a Seneca County Commissioner from 1966-1982. During that time he served as President of the Northwest Ohio Commissioners & Engineers Association, as a director of the Ohio County Commissioners Association and on the Ohio Planning and Zoning Committee. Dale also served on the Seneca County Board of Elections.
Funeral services for Dale will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 23, 2021 at the Old Fort United Methodist Church with the Rev. Marc Quinter officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, from 4-7 p.m., at the Engle-Shook Funeral Home & Crematory in Tiffin and for ½ hour prior to the noon services Saturday at the church. Burial will follow the services on Saturday at Pleasant Union Cemetery in Old Fort.
In honor of Dale's request, please wear "anything but black to my funeral"; he loved bright colors!
