Dale Lesley Sukeforth Sr. passed away peacefully on January 7th, surrounded by his loving family, after a period of illness.
Born and raised in Maine, Dale dedicated 26 years to the City of Augusta Public Works Department and a few years to The city of Hallowell Public Works, and the Winthrop transfer station before pursuing his passion for lawn care and landscaping as an independent business owner. Dale was a man of strong character, deep love for his family, He spent many years camping and working at The Birches campground in Litchfield. He spent eight years delivering the Kennebec Journal as well as working for Beaver Brook Campground. Dale loved to fish and would often extend invites to everyone to join him.
Dale was predeceased by his parents, Barbara (Lupine) Sukeforth and Robert T. Sukeforth of Chelsea, Maine, and his nephew Preston T. Jones, affectionately known as "Tow Mater."
He is survived by his loving wife of 19 years, Debra Sukeforth (Thomas), of Winthrop, who provided much of Dale's care and treated all of his children as her own. He is also survived by his sons, Dale Sukeforth Jr. and his children, Gage and Rylan, of Farmingdale, Maine, and Ross Sukeforth Sr. and his children, Ross Jr. and Remington, of Madison, Maine; his daughters, Lihanna Lush and her husband Rob, along with their children, EllaRose and Ava, of Bardstown, Kentucky, and Kari Sukeforth along with their children, Chandler, Arihanna, Ashton, and Karlihanna, of West Gardiner, Maine.
Dale also leaves behind his stepdaughters, Wendy Thomas and her partner Wanda Kirk, along with their children, Laurie Ferguson, Justin Ferguson, and George Ferguson, of Sidney, Maine, and Samantha Childers and her husband Dylan, along with their son, Colton Brown. His stepson, Michael Neumann, and his children, Linwood, Ledger, and Kaidena, of Fairfield, Maine, also survive him.
Additionally, he is survived by his brothers, Lee Sukeforth and his wife Robin of Litchfield, Maine; Robert Sukeforth Jr. and his wife Elizabeth of Woodland, Washington; Timothy Sukeforth of Readfield, Maine; Randall Sukeforth and his wife Lourdes of Panama; and Jeffrey Sproul of Madison, Maine. His sisters, Kathleen Bourque of Chelsea, Maine, and Pamela Huff and her husband Dale of Greenup, Kentucky, as well as his sister-in-law Karen Thomas of South Gardiner, Maine, also survive him. Dale leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and countless friends who will forever cherish his memory.
Dale was best known for his practical jokes and juvenile humor, always ready with a laugh or a clever prank to lighten the mood.
A special Thank you goes out to Dales Son Ross Sukeforth Sr "Hoss", of whom Dedicated himself to Dale's care and stood by his side until the very end. Another special thank you to Wendy and Wanda Kirk for keeping Ross and Debbie fed and Hydrated during their stay with dale at the Hospice house and thank you to The Andwell Hospice House of Auburn Maine for taking such great care of dale in his final days.
Visiting hours will be Saturday January 18, from 2-4 pm at Veilleux and Redington Funeral Home, 8 Elm St Ste A, Waterville, ME 04901.
There will be a funeral in the spring and a burial to follow with the date to be determined.
