Dallas Ray Potter was born September 2, 1941, and entered eternal rest on November 7, 2025, at the age of 84. He was the beloved son of the late Daniel & Ocie Potter of
McKee, KY.
Dallas is survived by his devoted wife of 64 years, Louise Potter and one daughter, Joyce Leppard of McKee. He leaves behind 5 grandchildren, Crystal Gabbard, Rhonda Gabbard, Derick Gabbard (Kaitlyn), Misty Bergeson (Amber) and Jeannie Potter all of
McKee, KY. He is also blessed with 8 great grandchildren. Dallas is also survived by his siblings, Virgil Potter, Ann Mullins (Wayne), and LeRoy Potter (Jo Ann), along with a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his son, Michael Ray Potter and by four brothers, Dennis, Donnie, Everett and Howard Potter.
Dallas and Louise were united in marriage on August 29, 1961, in
McKee, KY. He worked many years as a skilled carpenter and retired from the Union. At an early age, Dallas accepted Christ and was called to preach. His life was dedicated to sharing the Gospel and leading souls to Jesus. He was known for his heartfelt prayers, he often heard in the woods near his home, interceding for his family and others.
Dallas loved music and was gifted in playing both the banjo and guitar. He spent countless hours outdoors, singing and playing gospel songs. Those who worshiped alongside him will remember his unforgettable rendition of "I saw the light," a song that truly reflected his faith and joy.
For more that three decades, Dallas devoted his heart and services as a member and assistant pastor at the Pentecostal House of Prayer, faithfully working alongside his beloved wife, Louise. Their partnership will leave a lasting, loving mark on their church family and friends.
Dallas deeply loved his family and grandchildren, and his prayer was that all would come to accept Christ. Dallas lived his life and conducted himself to be ready to make Heave his home.
The book of Timothy states: "I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith ". Dallas would urge us to be ready to meet our Savior, encouraging repentance and preparation for that day that we can all have eternal life.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday, November 11, 2025, at Lakes Funeral Home with Bro. Dewey Harrison and Bro. Justin Harrison officiating. Burial to follow in the Potter Cemetery. Pallbearers: Billy J. Johnson, Amber Bergeson, Charlie Hale, William Hale, Dale Harrison, Kaleb Spence and Tim Potter. Honorary pallbearers: Bob Fisher, Derek Gabbard and Denny Hensley.
