So Sorry to learn of Damian's passing. We had some great times at STCC back in the day. He had a great smile, a tremendous sense of humor, and could lift up the back of a car if you didn't have a "jack". What you could have missed if you didn't pay attention was his absolute brilliance. I'm not sure folks knew he taught at STCC for years - part time - some nights - and some Saturday College in the early days of "Saturday" College. He was an excellent educator - that kids could relate to and with. If I had to use one word to express my feelings for Damian it would have to be "Special". He was a special kid when I first met him, and he just got better after that, becoming a special young man and teacher. His actual children and his students were able to enjoy his ability to empathize and teach. I wish he had a bit longer - but he fit a great life - into a smaller window than we would have liked. Mr. Sarrette was truly one of the best. I am so thankful to have had him as both a teacher and our class advocate for the graduating class of 2005. Teaching was his calling. Mr. Sarrette had such a special gift connecting with his students making each one feel seen and never gave up on anyone. He had an impact on so many, and I cherish so many funny and wonderful memories shared with him and my classmates. I feel so thankful I was able to see him again and catch up this past summer at our 20-year class reunion. I still cannot believe this is real. My deepest condolences go out to his family and friends. He was an exceptional person, and we were all so lucky to have had him in our lives.
